Job Title Galveston County Human Resources $34,222.00 Annually Galveston, TX Full-Time County Clerk's Office - Civil Continuous General Description The purpose of this class is to provide specialized administrative and technical assistance to an assigned department and may perform any or all of the functions outlined below. Duties and Responsibilities The functions listed below account for the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary. Processes and maintains civil case records, including new filings, subsequent pleadings, and document imaging; ensures accuracy and completeness of all entries. Receives and processes payments for filings, citations, subpoenas, writs, and other court services; issues receipts and maintains financial accountability. Issues and processes legal documents, ensuring proper entry, tracking, and return verification. Manages incoming and outgoing mail; ensures proper documentation within case files. Coordinates case files for court proceedings, including judicial signatures, hearings, and scheduling. Retrieves, prepares, and files case records for court personnel, attorneys, and authorized parties. Provides customer service and case information to the public; processes records searches and copy requests. Prepares and maintains jury records, including panel coordination, oath administration, attendance tracking, and reporting. Prepares appellate records in compliance with applicable rules and deadlines. Compiles and submits reports as required. Trains and supports clerical staff; reviews and verifies work for accuracy and completeness. Responds to routine and complex inquiries regarding court procedures and processes. Maintains knowledge of applicable statutes, regulations, fee schedules, and procedural updates. Enters, maintains, and verifies judicial orders and case information within automated systems. Assists investigators, county staff, and the public with case-related research and information. Serves as court clerk during proceedings as assigned. Performs related work as assigned. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements Requires high school graduation or GED equivalent. Requires one year of customer service experience or closely related experience. Physical Demands/Work Environment Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement. Unavoidable hazards refer to the job conditions that may lead to injury or health hazards even though precautions have been taken. The work is typically performed sitting at a desk or table or while intermittently sitting, standing, bending, crouching, or stooping. The employee occasionally lifts light and heavy objects.
