PLEASE CHECK OTHER INFORMATION SECTION FOR INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO APPLY WF260041 Business Development Specialist 2 Kanawha County Exempt Position At WorkForce, WV (WFWV), this position is in the Employment Services section, Business Services unit, located in the Charleston local office. Responsible for facilitating a close working relationship with new and existing businesses statewide in West Virginia. Schedules and conduct Rapid Response meetings for workers who have lost their jobs due to a layoff or company closure. Serves under the federal program administered by the United States Department of Labor, Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA). Assists in identifying and supporting workforce needs and assists dislocated workers in transitioning to other employment. Develops methods to assist in recruitment, retention, research potential businesses and jobs within these businesses, matching job seekers to the business. Identifies skill gaps so that productivity may be improved for employers. Markets WorkForce West Virginia services and works collaboratively with WV and regional development offices, WDB's and their business consultants, chambers, and other agencies to coordinate tax credits, on-the-job training, and other incentives to hire qualified West Virginia workers. Presents ideas and concepts about WF services and offerings through presentations, including public speaking to large or small groups. Documents and maintains services in the management system, currently Mid Atlantic Career Consortium (MACC) computer system. Documents activity in weekly and monthly reports, in addition to other reports as assigned. Assists and plans, organizes and coordinates in the planning of job fairs, veteran events, college fairs, WorkForce related Chamber events to market WF services. Attends sponsored training, conferences, and meetings as directed. Coordinates with other agencies on a state and local level to develop partnerships to assist in coordination of services to employers and job seekers. Aligns Business Services program and region with the State Unified Plan with an ultimate focus on increasing the labor participation rate for WF. This position will be statewide and requires excellent written and oral communication skills. Attention to details and multitasking, good attendance, as well as proficiency with computers. A valid driver's license is necessary as travel is a key component of the position. Performs other related duties as assigned.
