Position Summary The Unit Secretary/Ward Clerk, under the direction and supervision of the supervisor or the Charge Nurse of the unit, is responsible for nursing station functions and performing clerical and receptionist duties. Additional duties include but are not limited to: requisitioning supplies, equipment, and services from other departments. The Unit Secretary/Ward Clerk should be accurate, organized, and flexible; able to meet the changing activity needs of the department. The incumbent must have positive communication and interpersonal skills and function in a busy multi-task environment. Qualifications Prefer college courses related to medical office technology or patient care, work experience in medical related field with Medical Terminology. Must be willing to accept responsibility and instructions. Performance requiring strong organizational and time management skills. Computer knowledge including Microsoft Word, Excel, Access. Proven work experience in clerical functions related to medical care. Requires American Heart Association BCLS certificate.
