HR Technician III (S) The North Carolina State Highway Patrol's primary mission is to reduce collisions and make the highways of North Carolina as safe as possible. The NCSHP has more than 1,600 troopers who cover nearly 80,000 miles of North Carolina roadways, more than any other state except Texas. In addition to enforcing the state's traffic laws, state troopers also guide traffic during hurricane evacuations, re-route traffic around hazardous chemical spills, and they stand ready should any act of terrorism occur. State Troopers are committed to protecting North Carolina's motoring public. The NC State Highway Patrol is seeking an enthusiastic team member to join our Personnel Unit as a Benefits Specialist. The Benefits Specialist is responsible for supporting and administering employee benefit programs to ensure employees understand and receive their eligible benefits. (If applicable) Salary Range: $41,206-$62,000 Salary Grade: NC09 This position is located at: 512 N. Salisbury Street Raleigh, NC 27610 Management Prefers: Basic to working knowledge of State HR systems and processes. Basic knowledge of federal and state laws, and State policies, procedures and practices. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; to handle confidential matters with tact and discretion; to express ideas clearly and concisely; to exercise good judgment in analyzing situations and making decisions within area of responsibility. Ability to learn and apply rules, procedures, and practices for various human resources management activities or personnel actions. Key Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To: Serves as a key resource for employees, assists in benefits enrollment and life event processing, and ensures compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Collaborates closely with HR staff, vendors, and employees to provide accurate information, resolve issues, and support the effective delivery of benefit programs. Typical work schedule: Monday-Friday; 8:00am-5:00pm Note: Qualified recommended applicant(s) must undergo and successfully pass: Criminal Background Investigation Drug Screening Test Minimum Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree, typically in Human Resources or related field from an appropriately accredited institution AND at least 4 years of experience in human resources with some experience in an HR lead position; OR equivalent combination or education and experience.
