Description A Brief Overview  Organizes and conducts Speech-Language Pathology services to facilitate the (re)habilitation of people with physical and/or psychosocial disabilities. The Speech-Language Pathologist directs the patient's participation in selected activities/treatments to promote and/or maintain good health and communication. What You Will Do  Organizes and conducts the Speech-Language Pathology plan of care to facilitate the habilitation or rehabilitation of people with speech, language, cognitive-linguistic, psychosocial, and swallowing disabilities. Directs patient participation in selected activities to establish, enhance, and restore speech, language, cognitive-linguistic, psychosocial, and swallowing abilities. Performs evaluation(s), develops an effective treatment plan appropriate to a patients rehabilitation needs within the care continuum, initiates and participates in the discharge planning process. Educates patient/family/caregiver in applicable health information, treatment and prevention. Performs other department activities such as, but not limited to, documentation, billing, support of department operations, etc. This position is a temporary position anticipated to end at a date agreed upon at hiring by Supervisor and Clinical Fellow. Additional Responsibilities  Performs other duties as assigned. Complies with all policies and standards. For specific duties and responsibilities, refer to documentation provided by the department during orientation. Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace. Qualifications Education  Master's Degree MA or MS Degree in Speech Language Pathology from an accredited graduate program. (Required) Work Experience  Graduate Program Clinical Experience (Required) Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities  Professional initiative, objectivity, good time management and interpersonal skills. (Required proficiency) Must be physically and cognitively able to provide patient assessment and treatment. (Required proficiency) Evaluation and treatment skills necessary to provide Speech-Language therapy appropriate to the developmental and chronological age of patients on caseload (Required proficiency) Licenses and Certifications  Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) Conditional License in the State of Ohio (Required Upon Hire) Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) American Speech Language Hearing Association Clinical Fellow (Required Upon Hire) Basic Life Support (BLS) Basic Life Support Certification (Required Upon Hire) Physical Demands  Standing Frequently Walking Frequently Sitting Rarely Lifting Frequently up to 50 lbs Carrying Frequently up to 50 lbs Pushing Frequently up to 50 lbs Pulling Frequently up to 50 lbs Climbing Occasionally up to 50 lbs Balancing Occasionally Stooping Frequently Kneeling Frequently Crouching Frequently Crawling Occasionally Reaching Frequently Handling Frequently Grasping Frequently Feeling Constantly Talking Constantly Hearing Constantly Repetitive Motions Constantly Eye/Hand/Foot Coordination Constantly Travel Requirements  10%
