Position Summary The ASC Billing Specialist is responsible for making sure that the insurance company, as well as patient revenues, are collected and consistent. The ASC Billing Specialist does so by adjusting balances according to contractual obligation, posting insurance company payments, checking for patient eligibility, and filing appeals. Essential Job Functions Providing accounts receivable follow up, posting insurance company payments, checking patient eligibility, charge entry, working denials; primary, secondary and tertiary payers, filing appeals, working insurance refunds and credit report, adjusts balances according to contractual obligation, assigns balances to appropriate secondary/tertiary payer or patient, rebills, build/send electronic claims, print and mailed paper claims, payment posting and ERA processing, deposits, taking incoming patient calls regarding insurance questions, working electronic claims send reports for rejections, requires access to personal health information (PHI), HIPAA training is required, and HIPAA compliance is expected. Must follow the organization's code of conduct, must participate in the compliance program initiatives and reporting and compliance issues, other duties assigned. General Qualifications Knowledge of general principles of insurance collections, ability to work as a team member, ability to toggle multiple tasks, ability to communicate effectively with insurance companies, patients and others, ability to obtain information and accurately enter it into the computer, pleasant personality, fluent in English, accurate data entry skills. Education and Experience High school diploma required. Previous experience in insurance collections. Patient collections preferred but not required.
