Salary Range: $60,000 - $70,000 Type: Full-Time, Non-Exempt Location: Colorado Position Objective The Pricing Analyst is primarily responsible for leading competitive intelligence across Schwazze's multi-state retail footprint. This role continuously monitors, analyzes, and interprets market pricing dynamics to inform disciplined pricing decisions that protect margin while maintaining competitive positioning. Operating within a highly transparent and price-sensitive cannabis environment, the Pricing Analyst serves as the organization's central authority on competitor pricing behavior, promotional intensity, and market price architecture. This individual translates real-time market intelligence into actionable pricing recommendations that support sustainable revenue growth and enterprise profitability. Essential Functions Competitive Intelligence & Market Research 45% Conduct structured, ongoing online and in-market competitive research across menus, marketplaces, aggregators, and retail channels. Monitor competitor pricing across core categories, key value items, and priority SKUs on a daily/weekly cadence. Maintain a competitive price index and benchmarking framework by banner and market. Identify pricing gaps, undercuts, promotional spikes, and premium positioning opportunities. Track new product launches, discount patterns, vendor activity, and competitive promotional cadence. Develop competitive intelligence reporting that highlights market trends, risks, and opportunities. Provide proactive pricing recommendations based on market shifts rather than reactive discounting. Support competitive strategy during acquisitions, market entries, and banner integrations. Margin Modeling & Financial Impact Analysis 25% Develop financial models to quantify revenue and gross margin impact of pricing adjustments. Assess margin exposure relative to competitive price positioning. Evaluate SKU- and category-level contribution performance against margin guardrails. Incorporate cost changes, tax structures, and regulatory variables into impact analysis. Identify pricing opportunities that expand gross margin while preserving competitiveness. Promotional & Lifecycle Pricing Analysis 20% Conduct pre- and post-promotion analysis to measure incremental lift, margin impact, and ROI. Evaluate vendor-funded promotions and discount structures against financial targets. Identify patterns of margin dilution tied to promotional frequency. Support lifecycle pricing decisions across new product introduction, growth, maturity, and markdown phases. Flag slow-moving or aging inventory requiring pricing intervention. Reporting & Cross-Functional Partnership 10% Develop and maintain competitive dashboards (Excel, Power BI, Tableau). Translate market intelligence into executive-ready reporting. Partner closely with Merchandising, Finance, and Operations to align pricing execution with strategy. Present competitive insights and pricing recommendations to leadership. Key Competencies Deep curiosity about market behavior and competitor strategy Advanced analytical and financial modeling capability Strong commercial instinct in price-sensitive environments Data-driven decision-making Ability to synthesize large datasets into clear insights Execution discipline and attention to detail Comfort operating in fast-moving, highly competitive markets Requirements Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Analytics, or related field 35+ years of experience in retail, CPG, or highly competitive pricing environments Demonstrated experience in competitive intelligence, price benchmarking, or revenue management Advanced Excel skills (financial modeling, scenario modeling, large dataset manipulation) Experience with POS data; Power BI or Tableau strongly preferred Understanding of price elasticity, margin analysis, and promotional ROI Experience in transparent, price-sensitive industries strongly preferred Working Conditions (Schedule, Environment, Travel) This position follows a hybrid schedule, with up to two remote days and three on-site days per week at the Denver or Boulder office, based on business needs. Work is performed in a professional office environment and includes extended periods of computer-based analytical work. The role requires regular review of online competitor menus, digital marketplaces, and pricing platforms as part of ongoing competitive intelligence monitoring. Regular field visits to retail locations are required to observe in-store pricing execution, promotional display consistency, and competitive positioning. Limited travel (approximately 1020%) may be required to support market assessments or integration initiatives. Reliable transportation is required to conduct local market visits and competitive audits. Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities in a fast-paced, price-sensitive retail environment. This role requires the ability to work with confidential financial, pricing, and competitive data. Must be able to obtain and maintain an active Marijuana Enforcement Division (MED) badge in the state of Colorado.
