Job Description

Overview The Manager of Procurement and Site Services is a key player leading procurement operations at the site level, developing and executing category strategies that align with broader procurement and operational aims. This role emphasizes cost efficiency, performance of suppliers, contract oversight, and procurement best practices, particularly concerning chemicals and reagents critical for site operations. In addition to strategic sourcing, this role will provide direct supervision and operational oversight for facility maintenance staff, promoting effective coordination between procurement and operational site needs. The perfect candidate will blend expertise in strategic sourcing with strong analytical, negotiation, and leadership skills. Responsibilities Strategic Procurement & Category Management: Develop and implement category strategies focused on reagent and chemical spending. Lead RFP/RFQ processes for major purchasing categories, assess proposals, negotiate terms, award contracts, and ensure compliance. Drive initiatives for measurable cost savings and value creation. Leverage spend across locations for optimal total cost of ownership solutions. Establish supplier performance metrics and conduct business reviews. Ensure procurement policies align with best practices and corporate governance. Use data-driven strategies, including spend analytics and market intelligence tools. Develop risk mitigation plans addressing supplier continuity and market volatility. Collaborate with Operations, Finance, Quality, EH&S, and Legal to ensure alignment of procurement strategies with business goals. Site Purchasing & Facility Oversight: Supervise purchasing specialists and facility maintenance staff, focusing on goal setting and performance management. Coordinate procurement support for maintenance and operational demands at the site. Ensure timely sourcing of MRO supplies and services for seamless site operations. Support capital expenditure procurement efforts alongside engineering and facilities teams. Monitor vendor compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards relevant to facility services. Qualifications BA/BS in Business, Finance, Engineering, Supply Chain, or related field; graduate degree preferred. Professional certification (APICS, CPM, CPSM) is a plus. 5+ years in procurement; leadership experience preferred. Experience in chemicals, life sciences, biotechnology, or regulated industries is strongly favored. Experience in matrixed, multi-site, or global procurement settings preferred. Demonstrated category management, strategic sourcing, and contract lifecycle experience. Knowledge / Skills / Abilities: Strong communication skills (verbal and written) in English. Advanced analytical capabilities and problem-solving skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially in advanced Excel functions. Experience with ERP systems required; e-procurement tools are a plus. Familiarity with data visualization tools is preferred. Understanding of contract law fundamentals and commercial terms. Knowledge of sustainable sourcing principles preferred. Strong organizational and time management abilities. Capability to handle confidential information sensitively. Demonstrated experience as both a hands-on individual contributor and supervisor. Effective negotiation skills with the ability to foster supplier partnerships. Financial acumen to analyze cost structures and build business cases. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple sourcing initiatives concurrently. Experience in implementing or enhancing procurement systems and workflows. Understanding of supply chain risk management and continuity planning. Travel may be required (5-10%). Physical Requirements: Ability to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods; ability to travel via plane or train as required.
