Contract Accounts Payable Specialist $ 22 - $ 27 / Hour Grand Rapids, Michigan Accounting & Finance Contractor Duration: Contract / Temporary (36 months, with possible extension) Schedule: Full-Time About The Role We are seeking a detail-oriented Accounts Payable Specialist (Contract / Temporary) to support day-to-day accounts payable operations during a period of increased workload and/or system transitions. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate invoice processing, timely vendor payments, and strong communication with internal and external partners. The ideal candidate is reliable, organized, and comfortable stepping into an existing AP process with minimal ramp-up time. Key Responsibilities Process high-volume accounts payable invoices, including three-way matching to purchase orders, packing slips, and approvals Perform invoice coding, data entry, and validation to ensure accuracy and compliance with company policies Execute weekly and/or bi-weekly check, ACH, and wire payment runs Communicate with vendors and internal stakeholders to resolve invoice discrepancies and payment inquiries Maintain organized invoice documentation and supporting materials for audit purposes Monitor shared AP inboxes and ensure timely follow-up on approvals and issues Assist with month-end close support related to accounts payable, as needed Required Qualifications 2+ years of experience in accounts payable or related accounting roles Strong experience with invoice processing, three-way matching, and payment runs Proficiency in Excel (basic formulas, filters, data entry) Experience working with ERP or accounting systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Sage Intacct, QuickBooks, or similar) High attention to detail and strong organizational skills Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment Preferred Qualifications Experience in high-volume or multi-entity AP environments Prior contract or temporary accounting experience Exposure to month-end close or audit support Experience working across multiple locations or departments Contract Benefits Eligibility for medical, dental, and vision benefits Opportunity to gain experience with new systems and processes Potential for contract extension or conversion based on performance and business needs Why Join This Role Immediate impact supporting critical accounting operations Clear responsibilities with defined deliverables Professional, collaborative accounting environment Ideal opportunity for experienced AP professionals seeking flexibility Pay Details: $22.00 to $27.00 per hour Search managed by: Amaka Mozie Benefit offerings available for our associates include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, additional voluntary benefits, EAP program, commuter benefits, and a 401K plan.
