Job Description

Health Unit Coordinator The Health Unit Coordinator is part of the health care team and utilizes her/his knowledge and skills to support and enhance nursing area/unit operations throughout OHSU. The Health Unit Coordinator maintains an accurate and current profile of patients and health care team members in multiple locations: census boards, call lists, and in the integrated health record. The Health Unit Coordinator serves as a communications specialist, providing clerical and reception skills, data collection and computer entry. The Health Unit Coordinator provides problem-solving and performance improvement assistance on the unit. Required qualifications include a high school diploma or GED; one year of clerical experience in a health care environment; reads, writes and speaks fluent English; basic knowledge of medical terminology, basic math skills, demonstrated computer skills, demonstrated customer service skills, ability to prioritize and multi-task OR an equivalent combination of experience and training that would provide above referenced knowledge, skills and ability. National HUC (Health Unit Coordinator) certification is preferred.
