Job Summary Responsible for maintaining the center to comply with the cleaning standards as set forth in the Broward County Child Care Ordinance and the Early Childhood Policies and Procedure Manual. This position requires light to moderately heavy manual work in routine housekeeping and domestic tasks in buildings. Primary responsibility is for the use of proper methods and materials in cleaning and otherwise caring for buildings and equipment. Reports to the Early Childhood Site Supervisor. Essential Functions Cleans required areas of facilities, including trash removal and other custodial activities. Implement and direct cleaning of the facility. Work with full time employees to develop cleaning plan and procedures. Prepare and maintain all necessary materials to complete daily cleaning assignments. Report safety hazards to supervisor and assures all safety regulations and other requirements are adhered to. Meet and maintain requirements of a person working in a licensed childcare facility as mandated by Broward County Child Care Licensing. Meet, follow, and maintain all requirements necessary for the Family Central Child Care Food Program. Must maintain high moral standards; be well disposed around children. Performs related duties as required. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED equivalent and some experience in commercial cleaning; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Must be at least 18 years of age. Must possess a valid Florida driver's license. Must have good moral character. First Aid and CPR certification is desirable. Special Requirements: (All supporting documents must be attached with application) Must pass a background screening through Broward County Child Care Licensing and Enforcement as required by Section 435, Florida Statutes. Must provide a Physician's Statement of Good Health for Child Care Center Personnel. Must be physically qualified to care for children, be free of all communicable diseases, and free of any behavior that may be injurious to children. Required to obtain 45 hours of minimum childcare training hours within 90 days of hire. Position Requirements/Qualifications Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of commercial cleaning methods and practices. Knowledge of cleaning materials and equipment. Ability to use and maintain a variety of cleaning equipment. Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form. Ability to adapt to an evolving and continually improving environment. Ability to respond to supervision, guidance and direction of superiors in a positive, receptive manner. Ability to demonstrate a polite, helpful, and courteous manner when engaged with the public. Ability to operate and care for equipment to manufacturer's specifications. Ability to demonstrate an understanding, consideration, and respect of cultural, religious, and gender differences when interacting with colleagues and the public. Physical Demands: Requires moderate physical effort including lifting up to 50 pounds. May require frequent crouching, kneeling, bending, and stooping. Frequent periods of standing or walking may be required.
