Logistics Planner / Backhaul Coordinator

Regional Planner / Backhaul Coordinator The Regional Planner / Backhaul Coordinator supports operational success by optimizing synergies and backhaul opportunities across assigned fleets. This role partners closely with Driver Managers and operations leadership to ensure routes are efficient, drivers are productive, and account goals are consistently met. The position requires strong communication, planning, and problem-solving skills to balance both driver needs and company objectives. Essential Job Functions For This Position: Communicate proactively with Driver Managers and operational leadership to support daily planning and backhaul needs. Build strong working relationships with Driver Managers to understand their operating styles and preferences. Lead all synergy and backhaul planning efforts; provide coaching to Driver Managers who are not meeting goals or expected metrics. Monitor synergy and backhaul performance for each account; provide performance feedback to management. Provide guidance, support, and best practices to help Driver Managers execute synergies consistently. Produce and maintain accurate daily and weekly reports. Actively manage 3rd party calls and messages to support operational responsiveness. Review all synergies and backhauls daily to ensure opportunities are maximized. Maintain regular and predictable attendance. Other Significant Job Functions Include: Help Driver Managers understand weekly backhaul plans and anticipate upcoming backhaul needs. Effectively "sell" synergies and backhaul opportunities to Driver Managers to ensure full engagement. Reinforce accountability for meeting established goals. Provide clear initial guidance to new Driver Managers joining the organization. Comply with all company policies, procedures, and applicable laws and regulations. Perform additional duties as assigned. Requirements: Required Education / Experience: High school diploma or a minimum of 3 years of experience in transportation, logistics, planning, or related industry. Preferred Education / Experience: Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Transportation, Business, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Required Skills (Technical, Clerical, Language, Etc.): Strong knowledge of the transportation, operations, and/or logistics industry. Effective conflict resolution skills with the ability to maintain professionalism under pressure. Ability to accept and apply constructive feedback. Working knowledge of TMW Suite (or similar transportation management systems). Proficiency with Excel, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and basic data analysis. Strong communication skillsverbal and written. Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and recommend improvements. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
