Position: Terminal Operator I Reports to: Terminal Manager Shift: M-F 7:00 am - 3:00 pm Pay: $23/hr At Ash Grove Cement, people are our first priority. What you'll be contributing: Reporting to the Terminal Supervisor, the incumbent will be required to operate & maintain equipment involved in the loading and unloading of cement from silos, rail cars, or trucks. Promote and follow all plant safety guidelines. Receive, position and unload hopper rail cars or trucks according to accepted, unloading, practices. Report operating and maintenance problems to the Terminal Supervisor. Load customer trucks and common carriers in a timely and efficient manner recognizing the company policy on load limit weights and clean air standards. Prepare bills of lading and maintain inventory records. Perform emergency, periodic and preventive maintenance on all equipment according to the terminal maintenance program. Recommend cost saving and work simplification ideas. Maintain the terminal in a clean, neat and tidy condition, which properly reflects the company's image. Support company safety program through the use of safety equipment and the observance of safe work methods. Handle special assignments or projects as needed. Able to handle terminal alone for short periods of time. Shift hours demand careful and responsible work habits for longer periods of time. Additional duties as assigned by supervisor To succeed in this position, you will need: High school graduation or equivalent is required One to two years experience is preferred. Ability to read, write and understand warning labels, instructions, signs, etc. Willingness to learn, training will be provided Mechanical ability an asset Experience with inventory control software, proficiency with MS Word and Excel Must be safety aware and able to adhere to company safety requirements Good communication skills to deal with truckers, customers and other employees Work well with others and individually Effective problem solving, Decision making and attention to detail Significant use of memory. Ability to lift and carry up to 74 lbs. What to expect in a cement environment: Work to be performed in a shop environment as well as outdoor exposure throughout the plant. Mild exposure to cement dust, heat, cold, and noise requires compliance with specified safety guidelines and procedures. Exposure to high elevations of up to 250 feet in height. Exposure to all weather conditions. Normal operation of mobile equipment may result in jarring and vibratory exposure. What's next for you?
