Medical Assistant - PRN Position

Join the Huntsville Hospital Urgent Care team as a Medical Assistant! JOB SUMMARY: The Medical Assistant plays a crucial role in providing clinical care to patients in urgent care, occupational health, and workers' compensation settings. Key responsibilities include conducting initial evaluations, assisting with x-ray testing, and preparing patients for provider assessments by accurately recording histories, vital signs, and necessary documentation while identifying acuity levels for appropriate intervention. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: The following duties and responsibilities reflect the expectations for this position but are not intended to be all-inclusive. Additional duties may be assigned. Greet patients promptly and communicate clearly about next steps and wait times Address patient concerns effectively and seek assistance in emergent or hazardous situations Ensure timely follow-up for lab and x-ray results; make follow-up calls with urgency Assist front desk staff with check-in and check-out procedures when needed Accurately document vital signs, medical histories, medications, allergies, and other relevant details Support patient transfers, procedures, and lab work under provider supervision Prepare and conduct X-Rays, ensuring correct positioning, safety, and radiation protection Complete all necessary visit documentation and maintain clean, stocked exam rooms Adhere to standards of infection control, safety, and patient confidentiality Perform phlebotomy, injections, and other clinical procedures as trained and directed WORK SCHEDULE: Full-time team members typically work a rotating schedule of 36-40 hours per week, with 12-hour shifts on weekdays and every-other weekend. PRN (per diem) team members are scheduled on an as-needed basis.
