Shady Grove Medical Center seeks to hire an experienced Education Specialist (RN) for our Perioperative Services department who will embrace our mission to extend God's care through the ministry of physical, mental and spiritual healing. Qualified candidates will be eligible for a $10,000 sign-on bonus. (Current AHC employees not eligible - see below under additional details.) As an Education Specialist, you will: • Report directly to the Director of Professional Development and Practice • Oversee Onboarding/Orientation of newly hired staff • Ongoing assessment of competency and evaluation of performance • Provision of continuing nursing education • Identify practice gaps and learning needs • Develop an appropriate education plan based on professional practice gaps and learning needs • Assist nurses in preparation for certification in a specialty • Coordinate, facilitate, and evaluate activities that promote professional role development • Perform as a nurse planner and provide contact hours for educational offerings • Acts as a subject matter expert for policy and best-practice development Qualifications include: • BSN required, MSN preferred • 4 - 5 years in the clinical specialty of Operating Room circulator with surgical technician experience recommended • Operating Room experience must include a wide variety of case mixes, including general, neurological, orthopedic, GYN, endoscopy, oncology, etc. • 2 years of nursing education experience preferred • 1 year in a leadership role preferred (includes charge nurse, preceptor) • Certification in a clinical specialty is highly recommended • Member of the Association of Perioperative Registered Nurses (AORN), and knowledge of best practices and resources of the organization is highly recommended. • Knowledge of the Association of Surgical Technicians is recommended • Strong communication skills, both written and spoken, required Work Schedule: SGMC performs approximately 11,000 surgeries annually. Surgical Services team members include nurses, surgical technicians, surgical assistants, and others with variable shift times. SGMC provides surgical services 24/7. Employment Type: Full-time Hours per Week: 36 hrs/week Typical Daily Schedule: hours flex to meet the educational needs of the surgical department, Monday through Friday Shift Type: Day Weekend Requirements: Potential Holiday Requirements: Follow the company holiday calendar Sign-On incentive: of $10,000 paid in 3 installments (at 90 days, 1 year, and 2 years from hire date).Current AHC employees are not eligible for a sign-on bonus if transferring between entities or within the same entity. Former employees must be separated from AHC for at least six months before becoming eligible if hired into a bonus-eligible role. Pay Range: $77,313.60 - $115,980.80 If the salary range is listed as $0 or if the position is Per Diem (with a fixed rate), salary discussions will take place during the screening process.
