Job Description & Requirements Specialty: Ultrasound Technologist Discipline: Allied Health Professional Start Date: 03/30/2026 Duration: 13 weeks 40 hours per week Shift: 8 hours, days Employment Type: Travel Departments: Cardiology & Med Surg Job Title: Ultrasound / Sono Tech Specialty: Electrocardiology Location: Gretna, LA 70056 Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Shift 8 Hour, 07:30am-4:00pm Requesting Vascular tech with experience required. Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) or Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS) required. BLS required. Contents are subject to change at the company's discretion. Education Required - Completion of a CAHEA approved formal training program in diagnostic medical sonography. Work Experience Required - 2 years of sonographer experience. Required - Maternal Fetal Medicine experience Certifications Required - Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (ARDMS) Advanced certification in area(s) of specialty according to facility need. Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association. Preferred - MFM Required - Certification by The American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers in the areas of Abdominal and OB-Gyn ultrasound or Cardiac Sonography Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) Certification within two years of hire Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs) Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications. Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process Knowledge of the anatomy of the liver, gallbladder, aorta, spleen, kidneys, bile ducts, and pancreas and ability to perform abdominal ultrasound and the pathology of these organs to provide radiologists with a preliminary diagnosis. Ability to work a flexible schedule (e.g. 24/7, weekend, holiday, on call availability). Job Duties Verifies physician order and procedure to ensure accuracy. Uses radiology information systems to facilitate care. Explains procedure to patient to ensure understanding. Independently operates equipment to complete imaging procedure according to protocol (including assisting radiologists in guided procedures in a variety of settings). Reviews patient images prior to transmission to ensure images meet diagnostic quality standards. Completes timely quality control procedures in accordance with regulatory standards and performing notification/remediation as warranted. Assists in the facilitation of departmental operations (inventory, staff schedules, equipment maintenance, etc.). Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.
