The Field Engineer is integral to implementing complex communication infrastructures and support across specialized sub-systems and product applications. Job Description We are looking for a talented and driven Senior Field Engineering Specialist to aid in the design, implementation, and support of advanced communication systems. This role requires significant travel (over 75%) and a combination of RF communications and IT/networking expertise. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, portray a professional image, and can perform effectively under pressure with minimal supervision. System Implementation & Design: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, implement, test, optimize, and document communication systems that meet or exceed client expectations. Onsite & Remote Configuration: Utilize various tools and structured processes to perform configurations for network, server, RF, and database components. Produce 'as-configured' documentation and baseline reports. Installation Oversight & Documentation: Oversee the installation of network, server, and RF equipment, and provide essential 'as-built' documentation. Troubleshooting & Maintenance: Conduct troubleshooting of networks, servers, databases, and RF systems using logs and tools. Ensure system logs and monitoring apps are fault-free and perform routine maintenance focusing on trend analysis. Acceptance Testing & Optimization: Execute product and system test plans, correct deficiencies, and document acceptance test results. Verify and optimize RF infrastructure based on design parameters and FCC license data. Technical Problem Solving: Design and implement solutions for complex technical issues during system implementation and support using project design drawings. Reporting: Deliver weekly reports on activities and accomplishments to stakeholders. RF & Networking: Possess strong RF communication system and networking skills. Proficient in LAN/WAN IP networks, installation, configuration, and maintenance of network systems (cabling, routers, switches, firewalls). Technical Expertise: Server Virtualization (VMWare ESXi v.6+ and/or Microsoft Hyper-V 2012+). Server Operating Systems (Windows Server 2008 R2, 2012 R2, 2019). Workstation Operating Systems (Windows 7 & 10). Network devices (switches, routers, firewalls - preferred HP and Juniper). Secure communication protocols (KMF, KVL, AES). RF systems (transmitters, receivers, filters, antenna networks). Project 25 products (trunked and conventional). Logging and recording systems. Relevant Systems Experience: Motorola base stations (G-Series). Motorola consoles (MCC7500, AXS). Astro25 Master Site and related equipment. Channel Banks and T1 Circuits. Telephony and packet-switching techniques. Test Equipment Proficiency: Skilled in using various communications test equipment, including: Communication system analyzers (S412E LMR Master, Viavi 3920B). RF Power Sensor. Ethernet test sets (Anritsu 9090A, VeeX MTX150, T-BERD 5800). T1 testing equipment, TIMS. Motorola subscriber units (APX, APX Next) and CPS programming software. General Skills: Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google applications. Excellent self-management and interpersonal skills for effective stakeholder communication. Able to maintain composure and efficiency in high-pressure environments. Additional Requirements: Excellent communication skills and a professional demeanor. Valid driver's license with an impeccable driving record. Must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain necessary security clearances. Legal authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely is a must. Ability to travel extensively (over 75%). Industry certification (e.g., CompTIA Network+, Security+, Cisco CCNA) is a plus. Salary Range: Target base salary is $90,000 - $110,000.
