Job Description Join Blue Cross NC as a Senior Principal Actuary, where you will utilize your advanced knowledge in mathematics, statistics, and financial principles to provide essential technical support for our intricate rating, pricing, valuation, and forecasting efforts. In this collaborative role, you'll work closely with a dedicated team of actuaries, ensuring a cohesive actuarial strategy across our health programs. You'll also play a pivotal role in advising Network Management, Underwriting, and Sales and Marketing departments, with opportunities to take on leadership tasks for specific projects. What You'll Do Contribute significantly to the success of the Actuarial Services team. Handle complex actuarial modeling with expert proficiency. Lead and provide consultative support for assigned projects, establishing yourself as a field expert. Assist in Rating and Pricing initiatives. Develop and maintain sophisticated rating models. Conduct Medical Trend analysis to inform decision-making. Support the development of Administrative Expense factors. Conduct detailed Experience Studies. Execute Rating Factor Studies to enhance pricing accuracy. Assist in the preparation of Rate Filing documents. Support Financial Forecasting efforts. Collaborate with FP&A to help create segment-specific Plan forecasts. Contribute to Network Management evaluations, examining financial impacts from provider contract changes. Assist Underwriting across all segments with various requests. Support the Sales and Marketing teams. Assist in developing and enhancing new and existing product programs. Comply with continuing education requirements as set by the actuarial governing body. Participate in the Actuarial Development Program, maintaining good standing while pursuing the FSA designation. What You Bring A Bachelor’s degree or an advanced degree as required. Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA) and Member of the American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA). At least 5 years of experience in a related field. Consideration may be given to candidates holding alternate actuarial credentials in lieu of ASA. Exceptional candidates who are Fellows of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) may qualify with fewer than 5 years of experience. Bonus Points Experience with Value-Based Care is a plus. Expert-level knowledge of SQL and advanced Excel is highly preferred. Demonstrated experience in building complex financial models is highly preferred. Proven ability to convey complex actuarial concepts to non-actuarial stakeholders and senior management. Strong critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills are essential. Salary Range At Blue Cross NC, we prioritize fair and equitable compensation that aligns with market standards. Our starting salaries are typically positioned near the middle of the stated range. Compensation decisions are influenced by various factors, including experience, specialized skills, certification, and organizational needs. Our base salary is part of a robust Total Rewards package that includes an Annual Incentive Bonus based on corporate and individual performance, along with comprehensive benefits.
