Clerk/Treasurer Position This position will remain open until filled. Under the supervision of the department or designee, performs a variety of clerical tasks where typing and customer service is a significant part of the work. Tasks include service to City residents and providing detailed information to all Clerk/Treasurer Department functions. This part-time position will float between several different departments (Clerk, Treasurer, Building) depending on the workload and daily staffing. Hours will typically be scheduled Wednesday and Thursday between 9:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., and Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Assigned hours will total 20-24 hours per week. This position will be required to work all election days, with an adjustment to the overall schedule that week. Examples Of Duties / Knowledge & Skills Work is performed under the supervision of a department head and/or their designee. Minimum Qualifications & Requirements Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent, including or supplemented by courses in keyboarding, typing, bookkeeping and office machines. Basic knowledge, understanding and ability to apply office procedures. Minimum of one (1) year clerical work experience. Ability to perform routine tasks with little or no supervision. Thorough knowledge of business English, spelling, arithmetic, punctuation, filing and grammar, and the possession of a good vocabulary. Typing/keyboarding skill level of 30 words per minute or greater. Ability to effectively carry out work assignments according to oral and written instructions and City rules and policies. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisor, other employees, community leaders as well as other Departments within the City. Possess skills and competence at the basic level or higher with computers and computer programs including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office Professional Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook), Internet Explorer, and BS&A. Supplemental Information The position will be a floater position with requirements to complete many different job requirements in different divisions of the office. Perform routine clerical, office and public contact work, including providing assistance at public counters and telephone requests. Assist the public by providing information, completion of forms and applications. Type correspondence, reports, notices, documents, as well as other routine documents. Will be required to fill in or assist other clerical workers such as cashier, tax clerk, water clerk, receptionist, building clerk, elections clerk, may also assist in preparation of payroll and accounting office functions. May handle miscellaneous errands which may require leaving the office, such as precinct locations or bank deposits. Sort and distribute mail. Operate a variety of office machines proficiently such as copier, cash register system, calculator, BS&A software (or like) and computers. Maintain office files by appropriately filing and retrieving information.
