Position summary: Maas Verde is seeking a creative, nature-loving Horticulture & Communications Intern to bridge the gap between our field operations and our digital community. This isn't your average "desk-only" internship. You will be tasked with capturing the heart of landscape restoration and native plant advocacy, translating technical horticulture work into engaging stories for our blog and social media channels. The ideal candidate is either a Horticulture student with a flair for storytelling or a Communications major with a deep-seated passion for Texas ecology and sustainable land management. Job Responsibilities: Content Creation and Storytelling: Visit active project sites to capture high-quality photos and videos of our restoration work, native plant installations, and “before and after” landscape restorations. Blog Management: Write 1-2 weekly articles for the Maas Verde blog. Topics may range from “Spotlight on Texas Native Plants” to deep dives into our restoration methodologies and sustainability tips for local landowners. Social Media Coordination: Manage and grow our presence on Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook etc. This includes creating reels, managing our social media content calendar, writing engaging posts that create engagement and builds community within our audience. Brand Advocacy: Work closely with the marketing team to ensure all content aligns with Maas Verde’s mission of ecological stewardship and professional excellence. Educational Research: stay up to date on local environmental trends, native plant species, and landscape restoration news to ensure our content is both accurate and industry leading. Working Schedule: 10–15-hour work weeks Monday-Friday. On-site with some traveling involved. Requirements: Must be 18+ years or older and currently enrolled in a degree program pursuing a degree in horticulture, botany, communications, marketing or any related field. A “green thumb” for media which includes proficiency in social media channels, plus basic knowledge of social media algorithms and trends. Basic knowledge of photo/video editing skills and familiarity with programs such as Canva, CapCut, Adobe Suite etc. A curiosity for botanical gardens, native plants, soil health and restoring landscapes within the Texas region. Strong writing and communication skills with the ability to take complex environmental concepts and make them accessible and exciting for a general audience. Knowledge of using a camera (Nikon, Cannon Sony etc) to capture the best pictures for our social media content and blog posts. Valid Texas Driver’s License and the ability to clear a background and MVR check. The ideal candidate will also display: Ability to multi-task and complete assignments on time Be creative in their storytelling and find innovative ways to engage an audience Adaptability, as the only constant thing is change! A company vehicle will be available for use, and a camera will be provided for taking photos. A company laptop will also be provided to complete weekly tasks.
