Job Description & Requirements Specialty: ED - Emergency Department Discipline: RN Start Date: 04/06/2026 Duration: 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, nights Employment Type: Travel Assignment Overview Shift: Nights, 3x12hrs Hours: 36 hrs/wk Start Date: Apr 6, 2026 Length: 13 weeks Openings: 1 Description American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an off-campus Emergency Department (OCED) position in Lacey, WA, requiring 2+ years of true ER experience and a full certification stack including TNCC and NRP. Details Off-campus Emergency Department (OCED) setting with 10 ED beds and 4 hallway spaces, serving a high-volume patient census with significant EMS traffic Patient population spans neonates to geriatrics, with approximately 25% pediatric cases, walk-in traumas, and a broad mix of cardiac, neuro, GI, respiratory, psych, and GSW patients RNs are responsible for managing ventilators and BiPAP independently, as no respiratory therapists are onsite Patient ratio is 1:4; fast track ratio is 1:6 in a team nursing model with NP support Night shift, 12-hour shifts (NOC start times range from 1500–1900) 36 hours per week on a 6-week scheduling cycle Nurses are assigned a primary OCED location but are expected to float to other OCED sites as needed; primary site may change based on staffing needs Charting via Epic; Alaris and Pyxis used for medication management Pharmacy support provided remotely via video conference; RNs mix their own medications under pharmacist supervision Weekend rotation is approximately every other weekend, though not guaranteed and is negotiable Holiday coverage expectations are negotiable Requirements Active WA state RN license or compact RN license required Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP, NIHSS, and TNCC Minimum 2 full years of true ER experience at any trauma level required Strong IV skills required, including the ability to draw blood, manage chest tubes, and assist with central lines Proficiency in medication administration, including mixing own medications, required Telemetry competency exam must be completed and passed prior to start Two professional references from a supervisor or above (Charge Nurse, Manager, Director, or equivalent) required; one reference may be submitted for initial consideration with a second required before start Additional Information Orientation includes a hospital orientation day, a full day with an OCED unit educator, an 8-hour respiratory/ventilator class, and a full day on the unit RNs will receive ventilator and BiPAP training during onboarding Charge nurse responsibilities are required; training will be provided if needed LPNs are available on the unit to assist with low-acuity assignments, procedures, and medication administration within their scope EST/phlebotomy staff are available to assist with blood draws, though the majority of draws are performed by RNs or LPNs Scrubs may be any color Free parking is available on site First-time travelers are welcome to apply Up to 5 days of time off may be approved; requests exceeding 5 days require manager approval American Traveler Job ID #P-679389.
