bout Hollidaysburg Veterans' Home: Located near Altoona in Duncansville, Blair County, the Hollidaysburg Veterans' Home (HVH) is the largest of six veterans' homes in the Commonwealth. The home sits on 113 acres along the main Allegheny Mountain ridge, offering an environment that is both accessible for family and friends and tranquil for residents. Fifty-eight American flags line both sides of the avenue leading to Eisenhower Hall , the home's main building, named in honor of General and President Dwight D. Eisenhower. Hollidaysburg Veterans' Home is dedicated to honoring its residents through exceptional care and service. Minimum Qualifications: Six (6) months of experience as an Aide Trainee; or One (1) year of paid experience in the care and treatment of geriatric or physically ill patients/residents; and Graduation from high school or equivalent. Must be registered and certified by the Pennsylvania Department of Health as meeting competency requirements for nurse aide work in a long-term care unit. Basic computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office products. Role Description: This position involves non-professional nursing work in the care of patients/residents in a hospital, infirmary, long-term care, or domiciliary setting. CNAs provide direct daily care, assist with rehabilitation, and help maintain resident quarters. Duties are performed according to established rules and under the supervision of registered nurses and/or physicians. CNAs participate in on-the-job and formal in-service training to maintain nursing care expertise. They assist and encourage residents to engage in prescribed rehabilitative and recreational activities, both individually and in groups.
