This position will report to the Director of Research and Development. POSITION SUMMARY The Senior Engineer role exists to ensure that Seaman Corporation's products are manufacturable, scalable, and operationally robust across their life cycle. This role offers technical leadership to reduce risk and improve execution at the transition from development to production and quickly resolve yield or process capability issues for commercialized products. This anchoring role helps the organization make better decisions faster and ensures that both existing and new technology platforms perform predictably in manufacturing and reliably in the field. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Manufacturing optimization and operational support Diagnose chronic and acute manufacturing issues by properly identifying the problem, identifying critical variables that lead to root causes, and driving disciplined corrective action. Utilizing available resources including laboratory work, pilot plant, suppliers that propose solutions and validation with operations team and plant trials to demonstrate effectiveness. Identify critical process variables to improve process windows for manufacturing operations. Lead or co-lead production trials by establishing objectives, success criteria, sampling plans, and decision thresholds aligned with Product Life Cycle Management (PLM) expectations through trial prework rubric and trial execution Drive selected continuous improvement projects related to yield improvement, scrap reduction, throughput improvement, and process capability. Partner and Consult with Quality and Process Engineering to translate failure modes into robust test plans, specifications, and preventive controls. Scale-up, technology transfer, and commercialization support Lead or support the transition of products from development through pilot and into full-scale manufacturing, utilizing the trial prework rubric and trial documentation protocol. Build and execute scale-up strategies that connect formulation, process conditions, equipment constraints, and end-use performance within PLM framework. Serve as Technical Lead and/or PLM Project Manager for assigned projects, with accountability for technical direction, cross-functional alignment, and completion of required PLM deliverables at later project gates. Ensure technical risks are identified, evaluated, and facilitate implementation as appropriate. Depending on project needs, this role may carry primary responsibility for technical leadership or overall project execution within the enterprise-wide PLM process. Capability building and knowledge transfer Establish technical baselines for critical processes and enable faster/ better decisions through clear documentation and data-driven recommendations. Develop a prioritized list of Process Improvement Pipeline projects based on capability gap analysis and business roadmap. Convert experiential knowledge into repeatable and documented systems knowledge, including troubleshooting guides, process playbooks, and training materials. Provide technical leadership to engineers and cross-functional teams through coaching, structured reviews, and practical problem-solving guidance. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Education MS or BS in Chemical Engineering, Polymer Engineering/Science, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, or a related discipline with 10+ years (MS) or 12+ years (BS) of significant and relevant industrial experience. Experience Significant-relevant experience defined as supporting manufacturing operations through process optimization, scale-up, or polymer processing in a B2B environment. Demonstrated ability to diagnose complex technical problems, prioritize critical variables, and implement solutions that are sustainable. Experience designing experiments and using data to guide technical decisions. Strong written and verbal communication skills with disciplined documentation practices. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Rolled good manufacturing experience PVC processing expertise, preferably flexible PVC: Experience with high intensity mix process of suspension grade PVC and downstream processing including compounding extrusion, calandaring, laminating PVC materials. Experience formulating and processing PVC plastisols, including paste compounding, rheology control, coating or casting, and thermal gel-fusion to produce flexible films. Experience with polymer systems used in coating and lamination, including control of rheology, wetting, and interfacial performance to produce consolidated structures bonded to textile substrates. Experience supporting capital or equipment evaluations tied to manufacturability and capacity. COMPETENCIES Do What's Right Safety: Safety is our priority and everyone's responsibility. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITES: None TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: 10-25 percent travel expected. Travel is purpose-driven and required to support plant trials, manufacturing scale-up, supplier engagement, and collaboration with external technical partners, with frequency varying by PLM phase and business needs rather than routine or constant site assignment.
