About the Role & Program Are you passionate about leveraging data to tackle complex business challenges? Join our dynamic team at Walt Disney World! Our mission within the Commercial Strategy organization is to harness our data assets, applying quantitative techniques to uncover valuable insights about our Guests and business operations. Collaborating directly with key decision-makers at Disney, your contributions will help enhance the Walt Disney World experience. This unique role spans multiple functional areas, enabling the development of comprehensive models that predict and guide improvements for the overall Walt Disney World business. It's an opportunity to showcase your technical data science skills while engaging in crucial commercial decisions. The Commercial Data Science Intern reports to the Manager of Data Science and operates as an individual contributor. What you will do: Each day will present diverse challenges, revolving around three main themes: Data Wrangler: Your understanding of data will be crucial in solving business problems. You will translate business and analytic needs into data requirements to ensure access to necessary information for problem-solving, collaborating with technology partners to address data quality issues. Working within a complex data environment, you'll compile and cleanse data from various domains, establishing a strong foundation for your analytical endeavors. Analytics Creator: Utilize your data science expertise to generate mathematical models and conduct statistical analyses. Engage in comprehensive analyses, including data collection and exploration, feature generation, and algorithm selection. Determine the most effective techniques to address problems efficiently and accurately, exploring all aspects of the analytics curve through statistical, predictive, and prescriptive methods. Insights Translator: Your role will involve interpreting analysis outputs and models to offer actionable recommendations. Analyze findings to quantify uncertainty/risk and identify limitations, conveying them in the context of the initial problem. Craft key takeaways and recommend next steps, ensuring your work integrates seamlessly into the decision-making process. Required Qualifications & Skills Proficiency in SQL, Python, or R for data manipulation, engineering, or analysis. Familiarity with SQL or NoSQL databases, along with data modeling best practices. Knowledge of leading data and analytic tools, including Snowflake, Git, Sagemaker, Dataiku, and Tableau. Strong coding standards and documentation skills to maintain quality in your work. Time-management abilities to prioritize multiple requests and effectively communicate progress. Solid communication and interpersonal skills, with a proactive approach to accomplishing tasks. A genuine passion for data, technology, and challenging conventional practices. Preferred Qualifications & Skills Experience with Docker and Kubernetes. Familiarity with Machine Learning concepts. Experience using ML frameworks and libraries such as TensorFlow, Spark MLlib, PyTorch, scikit-learn, and Keras. Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure, alongside big data technologies. Education Currently enrolled undergraduate student in a quantitative field (e.g., statistics, mathematics, econometrics, data science). Eligibility Requirements & Program Information: Enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a degree, taking at least one class at the time of application, or currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship. Current Disney Interns, College, International, or Culinary Program Participants may only work for one consecutive year (12 months) in any combination of internship and/or program. Must be 18 years of age or older. Possess unrestricted work authorization. Additional Information: Ability to maintain a consistent, reliable work schedule throughout the internship. Fully available from Monday - Friday, Eastern Standard Time, for the duration of the internship, 40 hours each week. Reliable transportation to/from work. Provide own housing for the duration of the internship program in the Orlando area. The internship is expected to run from June 2026 to December 2026. Florida Housing We offer limited housing opportunities for Florida Based Professional Interns through American Campus Communities. The pay rate for this role in Orlando, FL is $42 per hour.
