Deliver tailored speech therapy sessions that focus on communication development, language skills, fluency, voice modulation, and safe swallowing. Engage in teamwork with physical and occupational therapists, nurses, doctors, family members, and caregivers to craft cohesive care strategies. Provide education and resources to patients and their families to enhance progress and engagement outside of therapy. Sometimes take part in inpatient speech therapy assessments and treatments to ensure a continuum of care. Keep clear and timely records that meet all required state, federal, and organizational standards. Continue to advance your professional knowledge through education and collaboration with peers. Education A Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution. Completion of a Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) is required for candidates who have not yet earned ASHA certification. Certifications State license as a Speech Language Pathologist. Preferred: Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA. Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification obtained within 30 days of hiring.
