Our client is currently seeking a qualified Senior Desktop Engineer to join their team onsite in Ann Arbor, MI. This is a senior technical role focused on macOS administration and enterprise endpoint management. This position will serve as the primary escalation point for complex Apple device issues, ensuring secure and reliable operations. The engineer will lead Jamf Pro administration, drive compliance initiatives, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality support and strategic improvements. This role requires deep macOS expertise (approximately 80% macOS / 20% Windows), strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to mentor junior staff. This role will own advanced endpoint management tasks, lead macOS security posture, and ensure compliance with corporate standards. Responsibilities include Jamf Pro administration, ADE enrollment, asset lifecycle management, and acting as the senior escalation point for critical incidents. The engineer will also contribute to documentation, process improvement, and strategic initiatives within IT Client Services. Duties and Responsibilities: Act as the primary escalation point for complex macOS and endpoint issues; own resolution and root-cause analysis for high-impact incidents Lead Jamf Pro administration (policies, profiles, smart groups, configuration, packaging, and scripted deployments) Manage ADE/zero-touch provisioning for Apple devices; maintain enrollment workflows and PreStage configurations Drive macOS security posture: FileVault enforcement, patch currency, EDR health checks (e.g., SentinelOne), and CIS benchmarks Provide Tier 2/3 support for Apple hardware/peripherals and core productivity apps (Office 365, VPN, Okta), plus Windows endpoints as needed Perform asset lifecycle tasks: provisioning, returns/RMA, and data-sanitized disposal coordination; maintain accurate inventory updates Execute onboarding/offboarding tasks in ServiceNow (ITSM) and update asset records in FreshService (Asset Management System); validate termination controls and leavers' data handling Collaborate with Server, Network, and Security teams; drive resolution and communicate risk proactively during change management and major deployments Author and maintain technical documentation and internal KB articles; contribute to runbooks and standard operating procedures Mentor interns and junior staff; guide best practices for Apple device management Skills and Qualifications: Minimum 5+ years of experience in desktop support or systems engineering with demonstrable macOS depth; strong troubleshooting and leadership skills Hands-on Jamf Pro administration (policies, profiles, packaging, scripts); ADE enrollment and zero-touch provisioning experience Advanced Jamf certification a plus Working knowledge of ITSM platforms (ServiceNow) and asset management tools (FreshService); ticket lifecycle management and SLA awareness Proficiency with enterprise services: Okta, Office 365, VPN clients; endpoint security/EDR (e.g., SentinelOne, Rapid7); disk encryption (FileVault) Ability to document procedures clearly, communicate with technical and non-technical audiences, operate independently and collaboratively Scripting and automation for macOS (e.g., Bash, zsh, Python); packaging tools and best practices; AI-assisted remediation where appropriate preferred Knowledge of network fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP) and VPN host-check behavior preferred Experience with Intune/SCCM for Windows endpoints; familiarity with CyberArk, GlobalProtect, or equivalent security toolsets preferred ITIL Foundation or equivalent practical experience preferred Wage Range: The rate for this position is between $30.00 - $44.00 per hour. Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
