About the Role: We are developing an advanced data governance platform that empowers customers to manage the structure, policy, and discoverability of their real-time data. The platform encompasses features for schema management, policy enforcement, tagging, and data sharing across organizations. As an engineering leader, you will collaborate closely with our Product team to define the vision, strategy, and roadmap for the next generation of governance features, ensuring the reliability and security of existing systems. Your role will include overseeing the design, development, quality, and operations of technologies that affect both cloud and on-premise configurations, in addition to maintaining our open-source Schema Registry. What You Will Do: Lead a global team of software engineers and engineering leaders, fostering high productivity. Shape the long-term direction and strategy for Governance while partnering with stakeholders. Innovate technically in governance and related technologies to give Confluent a competitive edge. Enhance schema management processes and support a shift from thick to thin clients. Attract and retain top-tier engineers while establishing quality standards and operational maturity. What You Will Bring: Over 10 years of engineering management experience leading effective teams. Ability to recruit, mentor, and motivate engineers while maintaining high performance standards. Strong foundation in distributed systems design and development. History of successfully shipping features and consistently meeting deadlines. Urgency and excellent prioritization skills to achieve results. Ability to foresee technical needs and create actionable plans based on customer insights. Visionary mindset to drive long-term success through continuous technical and product innovation. Preferred experience in managing production services in public cloud environments.
