Internship Overview: Join our innovative team as a Summer Intern in AI/ML focused on Structured Perception, a role that offers hands-on experience in advancing autonomous vehicle technology. This hybrid internship will provide opportunities to collaborate with experts in the field while working on groundbreaking projects. Team Focus: The Structured Perception team is committed to pushing the boundaries of AI in autonomous vehicles, emphasizing structured outputs like online maps, object tracking, and addressing unique environmental scenarios. This dynamic group of researchers and engineers is at the forefront of tackling complex challenges in autonomy and machine perception. Your Role and Responsibilities: Conduct research and prototype sophisticated machine learning methods to enhance modules for tracking and mapping in real-world applications. Create and test ML models designed to improve perception, prediction, and decision-making for autonomous driving. Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams including research, robotics, and systems engineering. Engage in technical discussions, share insights, and contribute towards publishing research findings. Required Qualifications: Pursuing or nearing completion of a Master’s or Ph.D. in Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, or a related field. Solid understanding of contemporary machine learning techniques, particularly deep learning architectures (e.g., transformers, generative models). Proficient in Python and ML frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow. Research experience in AI/ML through coursework, academic projects, or publications. Strong problem-solving capabilities and a collaborative approach. Excellent communication and presentation skills. Experience in team environments, working cross-functionally. Availability to commit to a full-time internship, approximately 40 hours per week. Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity with autonomous vehicles or advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). Experience with large-scale datasets and training ML models in high-performance computing environments. Intent to return to educational program following the internship. Demonstrated accomplishments such as publications at leading conferences or receipt of grants and fellowships. Self-motivated with a proven ability to solve analytical problems using quantitative methods. Graduation date between December 2026 and June 2027. Compensation: The monthly salary for this position is $13,100. Eligible students will receive a one-time taxable stipend. Benefits: Paid US GM Holidays. Family Vehicle Discount Program.
