Are you ready to unlock your potential and take on extraordinary challenges? At Coinbase, we are driven by a mission to enhance economic freedom across the globe. This is a bold, ambitious opportunity that requires our full commitment as we shape the pioneering onchain platform and pave the way for the next global financial system. To fulfill our mission, we are looking for a unique candidate—someone who is passionate about our vision and believes in the transformative power of crypto and blockchain technology. We seek individuals eager to make a significant impact, thrive under pressure, and appreciate the privilege of collaborating with high-caliber colleagues. If you embrace challenges and are committed to solving complex problems, you are the right fit for our team. Our work culture is dynamic and demanding—but for those who aspire to build the future with exceptional peers, there’s no better place to be. While many roles at Coinbase offer remote flexibility, we emphasize in-person engagement throughout the year. Team-building activities and company-wide offsites occur several times a year to enhance collaboration, connection, and alignment. Participation is expected and fully supported. The Internal Audit function at Coinbase is an independent arm reporting directly to the Coinbase Audit Committee. Our primary mission is to objectively assess and enhance the effectiveness of governance, compliance, risk management, and control processes. Our in-house team is tasked with strategic analysis, risk assessment, audit planning, project management, quality review, report issuance, and validation of findings across IT and business sectors. By conducting comprehensive audits—including planning, walkthroughs, testing, deficiency remediation, and report writing according to Irish regulations—you will contribute significantly to our industry leadership by evaluating management's ability to mitigate risks and enhance value to all stakeholders. Key Responsibilities: Join a global internal audit team to develop innovative audit practices and ensure a best-in-class internal audit function. Audit Methodology and Innovation: Enhance Internal Audit methodologies with innovative practices and foster continuous improvement. Lead initiatives to integrate Generative AI, machine learning, and advanced analytics into audit programs. Design and implement processes that unify relevant data across the organization. Data Analytics and Quality Assurance: Collect, evaluate, and analyze data to ensure accurate and complete audits. Spearhead a robust Quality Assurance and Improvement Program (QAIP). Oversee periodic internal reviews and support external assessments. Regulatory Alignment and Risk Management: Act as the primary contact for regulatory examinations. Stay proactive in identifying emerging regulatory trends in crypto, digital assets, and blockchain. Collaborate with Compliance and Risk Management teams to cultivate a strong risk culture. Training and Development: Design and implement a comprehensive training program for the audit team. Mentor and guide team members on analytics-driven strategies. Track training completion for internal audit staff. Reporting and Governance: Regularly report to the Chief Audit Executive and Audit Committee on key performance indicators and QAIP results. Develop dashboards and reporting frameworks to monitor the health of the Internal Audit function. Monitor departmental budgets and hours to ensure effective resource allocation. General Duties: Ensure the integrity of tools and data utilized in reporting. Create and manage professional internal and external reports. Engage in special projects and address ad-hoc requests as needed. Research and resolve complex transactions and workflow issues. Qualifications: Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities. Degree in a technical field or relevant professional certification (e.g., CISA, CISSP, CFE, CPA, CIA). 8+ years of experience in consulting, strategy, or internal auditing. Thorough understanding of IIA Standards and regulatory expectations for financial services and audit methodologies. Experience with program strategy, end-to-end project delivery, and communicating outcomes to senior leadership. Strong project management capabilities with the ability to manage various tasks and deadlines. Familiarity with data analytics and cutting-edge auditing technologies. Adept at communicating complex concepts to diverse audiences. Solid analytical and problem-solving skills, with a high standard of quality, accuracy, and attention to detail. Self-motivated, able to work independently and collaboratively in teams. Thorough understanding of data analysis techniques. Proficiency in Google Suite or MS Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Preferred Qualifications: Professional Internal Audit / IT / Security qualifications (e.g., CISA, CFE) or extensive knowledge of Chartered Institute of Internal Auditors practices. Familiarity with crypto, payments, and/or the financial services industry along with experience in auditing information systems and controls. Experience thriving in a fast-paced environment. Enthusiasm for leveraging technology to enhance business value. Entrepreneurial mindset and the capability to adapt to a rapidly growing startup with its complexities and ambiguities.
