Senior Director, Human ResourcesExempt Part TimePOSITION SUMMARY:The Senior Director, Human Resources reports to the Provincial Treasurer and is responsible for guiding and managing the overall strategy, direction and operations of the Human Resources function. This includes Human Resource services, policies, employee relations, Human Resources Operations and HR programs for the organization (the "Province"). These include employee relations, employee benefits, employee communication, compensation administration, performance management, terminations, Human Resource Operations, staffing, education, compliance with employment laws and all related Human Resource functions. This position will lead the full Human Resource Team across the Province.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Leads the Human Resources Team, inspiring a collaborate, service-oriented culture.Oversees the implementation of Human Resources Monitors administration of established policies, standards and procedures throughout the Province. Identifies opportunities for improvement and resolves discrepancies.Establishes and Manages all staffing policies, recruiting and hiring practices, optimal interview and selection protocols and procedures necessary to recruit, hire and retain effective employees.Leads the implementation of the performance management system that includes performance development plans (PDPs) and employee development programs.Leads organizational compliance with all labor-related regulatory reporting requirements and ensures full compliance with applicable federal, state, and local employment laws, including EEO, ADA, FMLA, DOL, OSHA, workers' compensation, and related regulations.Leads the organization's Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging Team and Initiatives. Sustains and advances strategies that drive success for the work culture of DCM and support the values and mission of the Daughters.Minimizes organizational employee risk by maintaining a strong understanding of employment legal requirements and working closely with legal counsel when needed.Oversees practices, procedures and employment decisions related to serious employee performance problems including Terminations. Provides final approval for employee terminations in consultation with attorneys to ensure consistency and compliance.Oversees all HR training programs, ensuring managers and employees have access to learning resources, workshops, and up-to-date HR guidance. Assigns the authority and responsibility of Human Resources and managers within those programs. Serves as the senior authority for employee relations matters, facilitating collaborative resolutions. Creates all Human Resources policies and objectives for the organization regarding employee relations, employee communications and employee management.Audits the administration of the compensation structure, pay policies and oversees the variable pay systems within the organization including bonuses and raises.Partners with Finance leadership to secure cost-effective, competitive employee benefit programs and monitors national trends for opportunities and efficiencies.Sponsored Works Provides strategic assistance to Sponsored Works Executive Directors, Designated Board Member(s) and their Human Resources Leader in Human Resource matters, as needed. Approve all Sponsored Works' employee terminations in consultation with Province attorneys Keeps the Provincial Treasurer apprised of key matters of assistance to Sponsored Works and keeps Provincial Treasurer informed of Human Resource and other potential liability exposure matters. Pursues continuing education and professional organization memberships to advance knowledge of human resource practices.Creates an environment within the human resource function that fosters teamwork, effective communication, responsiveness and service.Performs special assignments or projects as directed and serves on committees as assigned. PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:Office EnvironmentEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:The position requires a minimum of a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Human Resources and Organization Development and fifteen plus years of progressive leadership experience in Human Resources positions. Specialized training in employment law, compensation, organizational planning, organization development, employee relations, safety, training, and preventive labor relations, preferred. The successful candidate possesses ongoing affiliations with leaders in successful organizations that practice effective Human Resources Management.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:This position requires a broad knowledge and experience in employment law, compensation, organizational planning, organization development, employee relations, Human Resource operations, safety, training and development. The successful candidate must have excellent oral and written communication skills, and interpersonal and coaching skills. Candidates must have a demonstrated ability to lead and develop members and demonstrate ability to serve as a successful participant on the Provincial team. In addition, the position requires strong knowledge of employment laws and practices, experience in the administration of benefits and compensation programs, Human Resource operations and Human Resources programs and key initiatives. Must operate with a high level of confidentiality. Understands corporate legal structures and Human Resources related liabilities within such structures.ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:Reports to: Provincial TreasurerSupervises: Human Resources Directors/Managers, Human Resources / Employees and Administrative AssistantCollaborates/coordinates with: Provincial Treasurer; Chief Financial Officer; Campus Administrators; Provincial Directors; Department Leaders; Sponsored Works – Executive Directors/Chief Executive Officers and their designated Human Resources leaders; Ascension staff in the areas of benefits and compensation along with other external vendors and contractors.Daughters of Charity Ministries, Inc. may obtain "consumer reports" about you from a consumer reporting agency for employment purposes.
