PAY RANGE: $80,168 - 88,000 POSITION SUMMARY: The Industrial Security Specialist is a member of the Security Department and provides operational security support for one or more Department of Defense (DoD) or other government programs. This role supports all aspects of security including personnel security, physical security, and information security in accordance with NAVSEA Standard Item 009-72 Physical Security at a Private Contractor Facility, applicable DoD regulations, and other project or customer directives. The Industrial Security Specialist assists with the development, implementation, and administration of security activities in support of fast-paced, mission-critical programs. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: (This list is representative of the role but not all-inclusive.) Live and demonstrate the Vigor Values daily Assist with daily security operations in compliance with NAVSEA Standard Item 009-72 Support the Security Manager in developing local security policies and disseminating customer-driven security directives to employees and contract security personnel Assist in overseeing daily operations of the contract security force Identify security deficiencies and support the development and implementation of corrective actions Interpret DoD and local security policies and provide guidance as required Enforce visitor control protocols and manage badge access control systems in coordination with the Security Manager Work closely with contract security staff to implement pedestrian and vehicular access control procedures Assist with internal and external security audits Support the implementation and maintenance of an Anti-Terrorism Force Protection (ATFP) program Provide support to other Security Department activities as requested Conduct supplier and vendor vetting to meet program security requirements Assist with the implementation of an active Security Awareness and Education Program Protect government, company, third-party, and intellectual property information from unauthorized disclosure Conduct initial and refresher security briefings for new and existing employees Operate independently with minimal supervision while maintaining accountability and attention to detail JOB SCOPE: The Industrial Security Specialist works under the supervision of the Security Manager and assists in the daily execution of security operations. The role supports the development, administration, and enforcement of personnel, physical, and information security procedures in support of fast-paced government programs. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: None INTERPERSONAL CONTACTS: This position requires frequent verbal and written communication with project team members, leadership, contract security personnel, and external customers. The individual provides regular status updates and reports to the Security Manager, program teams, and internal and external stakeholders.KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including report writing and presentations Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage competing deadlines Working knowledge of personnel security, physical security, and information security programs Knowledge of proper handling of Sensitive Security Information (SSI), Personally Identifiable Information (PII), Export Controlled Information, Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI), and DoD-controlled materials and equipment Knowledge of NAVSEA Standard Item 009-72 Physical Security at a Private Contractor Facility Knowledge of Communications Security (COMSEC) principles Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite and access control systems such as OnGuard (Lenel) Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with customers, employees, management, and security personnel Ability to work independently or collaboratively in a fast-paced environment REQUIREMENTS: Experience supporting government programs U.S. Citizenship required Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense security clearance (preferred) EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: High School Diploma required; Bachelor's degree preferred Minimum of five (5) years of Industrial Security experience or equivalent experience supporting government programs CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS: Facility Security Officer (FSO) Program Management Certification (preferred) PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Work is performed in a dynamic, fast-paced office and industrial environment with moderate to loud noise levels. The role may require access to production areas, climbing stairs and ladders, working at heights, entering confined spaces, bending, squatting, crawling, twisting, and lifting up to 25 pounds. Extended periods of computer use are required. Overtime, weekend work, and local or out-of-town travel (up to 5%) may be required.
