Requisition ID: 48577 Work Location: Public Works - Municipal Center Building 33 Pay Range: G.18, $40,518.40 - $62,795.20 Starting Salary: Depending upon Qualifications Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm Part Time Hours/Wk: Job Open Date: 3/4/26 Application Deadline: 3/18/26Job Duties: The Parking Management Group within the Public Works Department is hiring a detail-oriented and customer-focused professional to support key administrative and operational functions. The Administrative Technician plays an essential role in research, reporting, data management, customer service, and permit system coordination to ensure efficient parking operations and informed decision-making. Duties include: Support departmental projects by conducting research using readily available resources and providing relevant information. Compile statistical and narrative data into reports; prepare regular narrative reports to support departmental leadership. Establish and maintain databases or spreadsheets to generate various informational reports. Prepare recurring reports that support decision-making by mid- and upper-level management. Create desktop applications to produce spreadsheets, presentations, and reports for departmental use. Respond to internal and external inquiries by researching and preparing responses with technical detail. Address complaints and service requests by providing appropriate assistance or referring to the correct source and follow up to ensure resolution. Provide guidance to residents and employees on using the online portal, including assistance with creating permit accounts. Communicate with permit holders via the permit management system's email function. Assist with customer care communications and manage responses to email inquiries. Serve as one of the liaisons with the City Treasurer's Office regarding permit and citation reviews. Oversee communication efforts managed by the third-party call center. POC for the Virginia Beach Resident Validation Program Process payments from permit holders as needed. Communicate with the permit management system vendor to report and resolve system issues. Assist with managing the monthly parking online portal for the Oceanfront and Town Center garages. Assist with conducting onsite and system audits of the Permit System at the Oceanfront (OF) and the Monthly Parking AR system at Town Center (TC). Liaise with the CTO on permit and citation status reviews (active/inactive, voids, etc.). Provide general parking information to citizens as needed. Communicate routine policy and procedural information to staff members. Deliver training sessions to familiarize staff with city and departmental policies and procedures. May supervise support staff as assigned. Perform other related duties as required by departmental needs or as assigned by the supervisor. Specific assignments may vary depending on workload and operational priorities. The ideal candidate thrives in a collaborative environment and demonstrates strong attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and professionalism when supporting both internal staff and the public. Experience managing parking permits and citations, auditing citation records, administering monthly parking programs, compiling data-driven reports, and utilizing Microsoft Office, Adobe software, and related systems is highly desirable.
