Position Summary: You will lead the lean optimization process for manufacturing lines, ensuring stable, repeatable, and ergonomically sound assembly operations. Primarily focused on assembly operations that support the Manufacturing Engineering teams with machining workflow, staging, and standardization when needed. The Industrial Engineer drives task time definition, work measurement, capacity modeling, layout improvements, ergonomic optimization, and implementation of Lean principles at the shop-floor level. Requirements Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related technical discipline preferred 3-5 years of relevant experience in manufacturing, process engineering, or continuous improvement roles Experience with ERP/MRP systems Ability to apply basic statistical tools (Pareto, SPC charts, fishbone diagrams, trend analysis) to identify variation and drive corrective actions. Experience with layout design tools (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar) Experience using data analysis or Lean software tools (Power BI, Minitab, or equivalent) Strong understanding and practical application of Lean methodologies (Kaizen, 5S, SMED, Value Stream Mapping, PDCA) Time studies & ergonomic evaluation. Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional project teams optimally Strong commitment to fostering a culture of continuous improvement and employee engagement. Excellent analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills Analytical and organized with a continuous improvement mindset Ability to inspire change at various organizational levels Certifications: Lean or Six Sigma Certification preferred (Green Belt or higher) Primary Job Functions Assembly Process Optimization & Standard Work Define and maintain process efficiency metrics, task time, operator balance charts, and workflow standards. Develop and update Standard Work, OMS, visual work instructions. Conduct time studies and ergonomic assessments. Quantify the financial impact of process improvements through cost modeling, labor efficiency analysis, and value calculations. Lean Systems Development Lead VSM creation supporting assembly production lines. Facilitate kaizen events (5S, SMED, PDCA, waste elimination). Partner with materials management to implement visual controls, kanban systems, replenishment triggers, and material presentation standards. Layout & Flow Engineering Design optimized assembly work cells for internal material flow routes, material presentation, ergonomics, and efficiency. Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineer on machining-adjacent flow (WIP, staging, material prep). Use simulation or spaghetti diagrams to identify bottlenecks and improvements. Performance Monitoring Track assembly productivity, task achievement, line stability, and waste metrics. Support OEE and throughput improvements for assembly areas. Perform capacity analysis for assembly lines, including cycle time modeling, bottleneck identification, and throughput optimization Multi-Functional Support Assist the Manufacturing Engineer in machining SMED, staging flow, and standard work improvements. Work with Quality and Product Engineering to ensure assembly processes meet product & regulatory standards. Assist Training with operator onboarding for new processes. Other Job Functions Provide mentorship to supervisors and operators on Lean principles. Participate actively in Daily Management System (DMS) routines, ensuring assembly performance indicators and standardized work are maintained and improved. Assist Operations and Operational Excellence with critical initiatives and long-term operational improvement planning. Provide regular project updates, status reports, and recommendations to management and key partners. Conduct detailed analyses of production processes to identify inefficiencies and recommend effective solutions. Analyze workflow and production data to design efficient layouts and improve overall process flows.
