Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) - Inpatient Rehab | Escondido, CA (Travel Contract) Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) - Inpatient Rehab | Escondido, CA (92029) - Travel contract helping patients recover from stroke, brain injury, and swallowing disorders. Join a dedicated team at a state-of-the-art, 52-bed acute inpatient rehabilitation hospital in Escondido, California. This hospital-based SLP role focuses on neurological rehabilitation, dysphagia management, and functional communication recovery in a collaborative, interdisciplinary setting. Job Details Location: Escondido, CA 92029 (North San Diego County) Setting: Inpatient Rehabilitation Hospital (acute rehab, hospital SLP) Assignment Type: Travel Contract / Travel SLP opportunity Start Date: March 30, 2026 End Date: June 29, 2026 Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Shift - 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM (8 Hour Days) Hours per Week: 36 hours guaranteed (option for part-time 20-30 hours/week available) Weekend Requirement: At least 2 Sundays per month Estimated Weekly Salary: $2150-$2310 Qualifications / Job Requirements Active Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) license in California (CA SLP license required) BLS (Basic Life Support) certification Minimum 1 year of experience as an SLP in a hospital or inpatient rehabilitation setting (hospital SLP, inpatient rehab experience preferred) Experience with dysphagia evaluations, modified barium swallow (MBS) collaboration, and evidence-based swallowing therapy Skilled in speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing assessments and interventions (stroke rehab, traumatic brain injury, neuro rehab) Strong communication, clinical documentation, and teamwork skills, including accurate EHR documentation Ability to work required weekend schedule (at least 2 Sundays/month) Responsibilities Provide comprehensive speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing assessments and individualized therapy for patients recovering from stroke, brain injury, neurological conditions, trauma, spinal cord injury, amputation, and orthopedic injury Perform dysphagia evaluations, collaborate on instrumental assessments (e.g., MBS) when indicated, and implement safe swallowing strategies and treatment plans Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on patient goals and evidence-based practice in inpatient rehabilitation Collaborate closely with an interdisciplinary team (physicians, PT, OT, nursing, case management) to maximize patient outcomes and discharge planning Document patient progress thoroughly and maintain accurate records in the electronic health record (EHR) system following hospital policies Educate patients, families, and caregivers on therapy goals, home carryover strategies, and community resources to support ongoing recovery Why Join Us: This travel SLP position offers exposure to a high-acuity inpatient rehabilitation caseload, professional collaboration, and the opportunity to impact functional recovery for complex medical and neurological patients.
