Work Hours per Biweekly Pay Period: 72.00 Shift: Weekdays with Rotating Weekends 0700-1930 Location: 1324 Lakeland Hills Blvd Lakeland, FL Pay Rate: Min $39.95 Mid $48.06Position Summary The Vascular Access Specialist (VAS) will improve patient outcomes as they relate to vascular access. The VAS will abide by policies and procedures to meet regulatory accrediting body requirements and professional practice standards. Through assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation the VAS will collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to develop a vascular plan of care for patients that aligns with their unique needs. The VAS demonstrates scope and standards of professional performance including quality of professional practice, evaluation of practice, lifelong learning, collegiality, ethics, collaboration, clinical inquiry, resource utilization, and leadership. Standard Work: Vascular Access Specialist Perform early vascular access evaluation with recommendations for infusion access using the national Standards of Practice set by the Infusion Nurses Society. Insert various vascular access devices (e.g., peripherally inserted central catheters, midlines, ultrasound guided intravenous lines) at the bedside in appropriate patients. Troubleshoot problems with occluded vascular access devices. Function as an educational resource to nursing, providers, and residents. Mutually problem solves with the patient, family, other healthcare providers, and the community, as appropriate, to develop a well-coordinated and collaborated vascular plan of care to address the patient's needs Demonstrates engagement in caring relationships, modeling of caring factors and the promotion of optimal outcomes. Assure zero preventable harm by demonstrating keen attention to all patient safety and quality practices including but not limited to hand hygiene, intentional hourly rounding, pro-active toileting, and clutter-free, healing environment. Demonstrate ethical practice by maintaining patient confidentiality within legal and regulatory parameters in a nonjudgmental and nondiscriminatory manner that appreciates the unique meanings of patients, families, and the community. Exhibits commitment to the vision, core purpose/mission and goals of LRH, modeling the Quality-Caring Model concepts by initiating, cultivating, and sustaining caring relationships with patients and families, other nurses and other members of the healthcare team. Establish self-caring practices through demonstrating personal safety practices and engaging in continuous learning to advance one's professional practice. Competencies & Skills Essential: Strong knowledge of vascular access. Familiarity/Comfort with ultrasound for vascular access. Qualifications & Experience Essential: Bachelor Degree Essential: Bachelor Degree in Nursing Essential: Basic Cardiac Life Support Certified RN Infusion Advanced Cardiac Life Support Other information: Experience Preferred: - or more years ICU/ED/Procedural area experience OR previous PICC insertion experience. - Formal or informal leadership experience. Certification Essential: - BLS Certified - ALS Certified or to be obtained within 3 months of hire - VA - BC or CRNI or to be obtained within 18 months of hire Certification Preferred: - VA - BC or CRNI Licenses essential: - Current license as Registered Nurse in Florida.
