Position Overview Are you ready to support one of the Navy's leading acquisition programs while leveraging your engineering expertise? Join Serco as a Marine Propulsion and Mechanical Engineer, where your contributions will have a direct impact on military defense and the safety of our sailors. This role supports our established contract with the U.S. Navy, specifically with the NAVSEA 05Z5 team, which specializes in the design and development of ship propulsion turbines and control systems. The NAVSEA 05Z Marine Engineering Directorate is dedicated to providing the necessary engineering and scientific expertise to design, build, and maintain the Navy's ships and submarines. Led by seasoned Navy veterans, this team has garnered recognition within the Navy and the industry for their outstanding achievements. Key Responsibilities Support the design, development, and enhancement of naval propulsion systems. Contribute to the development of ship propulsion turbines and control systems. Conduct propulsion component design trade studies. Review and create technical specifications. Engage in collaboration with cross-functional teams. Commit to meeting deadlines while delivering high-quality results. Qualifications for Success An active DoD Secret Security clearance. A Bachelor's degree in a Technical, Engineering, or Marine discipline from an ABET-accredited institution. A minimum of 3 years of experience in ship propulsion and control systems as well as propulsion component trade studies. Experience with large rotating machinery, including Main Propulsion units, Turbine Generators, Diesel Generators, or other prime movers and associated reduction gears. Strong ability to collaborate effectively with remote and cross-functional teams. Proven track record of meeting deadlines and producing high-quality work. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, SharePoint, and PowerPoint. Willingness to travel up to 10% if necessary. Preferred Skills and Experience 1 year of relevant experience in federal ship or boat building acquisition programs. Experience in developing control systems. Experience in reviewing and formulating technical specifications. Skilled in performing trade studies on propulsion turbine configurations and components.
