Collaborating with a talented team of actuaries, you will apply your knowledge of mathematics, probability, and statistics, combined with essential business acumen, to develop innovative solutions for pricing, valuation, healthcare economics, and financial forecasting. In this dynamic role, you'll provide crucial actuarial support to various teams, including Network Management, Underwriting, Sales and Marketing, Finance, and Healthcare, promoting a collaborative approach to the actuarial aspects of our health programs. Key Responsibilities Conduct actuarial research, experience studies, and statistical analyses. Calculate premiums and reserves for new and existing insurance plans. Assist senior analysts or actuaries as necessary. Retrieve and validate data for rate filings and actuarial models, enhance models, and analyze impacts of changes. Communicate filing updates to internal stakeholders and submit rate filings to regulatory agencies such as NCDOI and CMS. Gather and validate data for monthly reports and calculations of UCL and ALR. Support valuation by running the ALR model and confirming results. Research to assist in ALR assumption studies and UCL estimates. Distribute established reports, respond to inquiries, and investigate trends and anomalies. Execute control activities aligned with Enterprise Risk Management. Provide analytic support for both corporate and departmental projects. Participate actively in the Actuarial Development Program. Qualifications Bachelor's degree or an advanced degree (where relevant). 2+ years of relevant actuarial experience; related experience may be taken into consideration. Completion of at least 3 exams toward earning the ASA designation is required. Additional relevant experience may be considered in lieu of minimum exam requirements. Alternatively, candidates with ASA or more exams towards ASA may qualify in lieu of minimum experience requirements. Preferred Qualifications Experience in Medicare Advantage or PDP. Background in Health Reserving. Familiarity with Dual Eligible Special Needs Plans (D-SNP). Salary Overview At Blue Cross NC, we pride ourselves on offering a fair and competitive compensation package that aligns with the market. Our salary range is typically set near the midpoint based on experience, training, skills, certifications, and business needs. Our compensation also includes an Annual Incentive Bonus based on corporate and individual performance.
