Job Description Senior Principal Member of Technical Staff, OCI Storage Join Oracle's Cloud Infrastructure team and be at the forefront of delivering high-performance, fault-tolerant solutions designed for the most demanding mission-critical applications. We are building a state-of-the-art Infrastructure-as-a-Service platform that functions at cloud scale, offering a secure and distributed multi-tenant cloud environment. We are seeking passionate hands-on engineers who excel at solving complex issues in distributed systems, virtualized infrastructure, and high-availability services. At Oracle, you will have the opportunity to take charge of innovative projects, develop cutting-edge systems from the ground up, and manage services at scale, greatly impacting both the technical landscape and our customers' businesses. Responsibilities As a Senior Principal Member of Technical Staff, you will collaborate with senior architects and product management to shape the requirements for OCI's forthcoming AI/ML storage infrastructure services. Your extensive experience with Lustre parallel filesystems in large-scale Linux environments is critical. Ideally, you have in-depth knowledge of the Lustre architecture and codebase and have actively contributed improvements to the Lustre git repository. Familiarity with public cloud offerings is an advantage. You will be expected to play a key role in design and architecture, create proof-of-concepts, and provide mentorship to junior engineers. Your code reviews will be impactful and you will create automated testing frameworks. You should value simplicity and scalability while thriving in a collaborative, agile setting. Qualifications 10+ years of experience in delivering and managing large-scale, highly available distributed systems. Deep understanding of Lustre filesystems in expansive Linux environments, either through coding or system administration. Strong programming skills in C and C++, with Python and/or Java as additional strengths. Familiarity with one or more public cloud platforms (OCI, AWS, GCP, Azure) is advantageous. Experience with high-throughput I/O architectures such as DAOS/SPDK is a significant plus. Knowledge in RMDA and advanced networking technologies (SmartNICs, NVMe/TCP, RoCEv2) is beneficial. Understanding of AI/ML frameworks (Tensorflow/Keras, PyTorch, Scikit-Learn, XGBoost, Caffe), MLOps, and Kubernetes is desirable. Strong grasp of data structures, algorithms, operating systems, and fundamentals of distributed systems. Proven troubleshooting and performance tuning abilities. A self-starter who thrives in dynamic environments. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field. The hiring range for this position is between $96,800 and $251,600 per annum, potentially including bonus, equity, and compensation deferral opportunities.
