Position Overview This role is essential within the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) team, focusing on delivering compassionate, patient-centered care with advanced clinical skills. The position demands autonomy, specialized certifications, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to ensure patient safety and optimal health outcomes. Key Responsibilities Patient Care: Coordinate with healthcare professionals to provide timely, equitable, and safe care. Perform thorough patient assessments, develop personalized care plans, and monitor patient responses to interventions. Serve as a patient advocate, maintaining dignity and confidentiality, and educate patients and families on medical conditions and treatments. Safety and Compliance: Uphold a clean and safe environment by adhering to infection control protocols and regulatory standards such as those from The Joint Commission and OSHA. Identify and report safety concerns proactively. Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed records of patient care, interventions, and progress within electronic medical records. Professional Development and Leadership: Mentor new nurses and students, participate in continuing education and quality improvement initiatives, and serve as a resource for best ICU practices. May assume charge nurse and Rapid Response Team duties as needed. Emergency Preparedness: Demonstrate decisive action and advanced clinical skills during critical events such as cardiac arrests. Qualifications Experience: Minimum of two years as a Registered Nurse in a high-acuity ICU or equivalent step-down critical care unit. Transitional RN program experience with critical care curriculum completion is also considered. Competencies: Proficiency with advanced critical care equipment, strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology, and ability to maintain sterile procedural fields. Excellent critical thinking, rapid decision-making, and communication skills are essential. Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred; Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) with five years ICU experience may be accepted. Licenses and Certifications: Current Registered Nurse license valid in the region, Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), NIH Stroke Scale certification, and Certified Critical Care Nurse (CCRN) or equivalent preferred. Successful candidates must pass physical evaluation, drug screening, and background checks prior to employment.
