Job Description

Join a dedicated healthcare team in the Midwest region, providing compassionate and expert nursing care in orthopedic surgery. This role involves delivering direct patient care through the nursing process, demonstrating clinical expertise, and adhering to professional nursing ethics. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Adhere to established safety protocols including infection prevention, safe patient handling, and critical lab notifications to ensure a safe care environment. Maintain and care for central lines and implement measures to prevent surgical site infections. Administer medications, perform nursing interventions, and provide education to patients and families to support positive health outcomes. Conduct initial and ongoing patient assessments to monitor status, enhance safety, and inform the healthcare team. Document all patient care activities and quality monitoring data to support clinical decisions and compliance with quality standards. Communicate effectively with physicians and team members to improve patient outcomes. Delegate tasks appropriately while fostering teamwork and accountability. Engage with patients and families promptly to enhance their experience and provide necessary education. Apply critical thinking in nursing practice and pursue continuing education to develop skills. Education Graduation from an accredited nursing program is required. Experience At least one year of nursing experience is preferred. Certification and Licensure Current Registered Nurse license valid in the state or through Compact Licensure. Graduate nurses must obtain licensure within 90 days of graduation. American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. Mental and Physical Requirements This position requires considerable mental focus and physical activity including lifting up to 35 lbs., standing, walking, and various movements such as pushing, pulling, and reaching. Working Conditions Frequent exposure to infectious and communicable diseases through blood and bodily fluids is expected. Occasional encounters with hostile individuals may occur.
