We are on the lookout for a Lead Software Engineer with substantial expertise in AI systems, MLOps, and production-grade software engineering. This role is vital for integrating cutting-edge research into practical applications, focusing on transforming proprietary and in-house machine learning models into robust production services. Key Responsibilities: Design, develop, and implement scalable AI and ML systems using proprietary, in-house, or customized models. Transform large language models (LLMs) and other AI technologies into dependable APIs and services. Optimize and fine-tune models to enhance production performance, reliability, cost-efficiency, and safety. Build and maintain infrastructure for model training, inference, and deployment. Establish monitoring and logging systems to oversee model performance and system health. Ensure the secure and compliant deployment of AI systems while handling sensitive educational data. MLOps & Platform Engineering: Design and establish CI/CD pipelines for machine learning models and AI applications. Create automated workflows for model training, versioning, deployment, and rollback. Develop scalable infrastructure suitable for cloud-native and containerized model serving. Implement model evaluation processes, A/B testing, and feedback mechanisms to improve quality. Manage the lifecycle of models from initial research to full production readiness. Collaboration & Communication: Collaborate with various teams across ETS to deliver innovative functionalities and maintain existing services. Work with peers and leaders to refine development methodologies and share insights. Effectively communicate technical updates, risks, and suggestions to stakeholders and vendors. Continuous Improvement & Innovation: Identify system or process deficiencies and propose targeted enhancements. Research and help integrate new technologies to boost development effectiveness. Assist with rollout, training, and knowledge sharing for new applications and features. Expected Deliverables: Reliable and scalable deployment of AI-driven systems and services. Successful operationalization of proprietary or in-house ML and LLM models. A robust infrastructure supporting the entire model lifecycle from training to deployment. Comprehensive documentation of system architecture and engineering processes. Contributions to new AI-driven product developments that drive significant user and business value. Qualifications: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Machine Learning, or a related field. Over 4 years of software engineering experience with a proven track record in deploying ML or AI systems in production. Strong programming skills and a solid understanding of information processing technologies. Extensive familiarity with software engineering standards, practices, and tools. A collaborative spirit with the ability to engage effectively with all levels of the organization. Proactive problem solver with keen attention to detail and a team-oriented approach. Proficient in both Windows and Unix operating systems. Ingenuity and experience in formulating technical strategies. Able to manage multiple projects independently. Capable of developing technical solutions aligned with corporate objectives. Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Strong analytical capabilities. The advertised base salary range represents the anticipated range for this position; actual pay may vary based on equity, candidate skills, experience, and location.
