Data Center Operations Engineer

Summary: Meta is seeking a dedicated and skilled Data Center Operations Engineer to join our dynamic team responsible for the Facility Operations in our data centers. Our facilities are essential to deliver top-notch services to our customers, and this role will be crucial in maintaining and enhancing the reliability of our critical systems. Key Responsibilities: Perform hands-on operations and maintenance tasks, ensuring that all physical and administrative operations align with site processes to maintain exceptional uptime, efficiency, and safety. Accurately complete work order requests in our computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) on time. Continuously develop technical expertise in data center infrastructure and operations, successfully completing personnel qualification standards training. Provide technical advice and support as needed. Respond swiftly to data center facility emergencies using established procedures. Conduct regular inspections of equipment, safety routes, and grounds, identifying and addressing any abnormal conditions or faults. Troubleshoot and recommend system upgrades based on evaluations. Order necessary components and supplies for maintenance and repairs. Collaborate with vendors and contractors to ensure adherence to Meta’s processes and standards. Timely escalate issues to facility management as appropriate. Assist in scheduling and supervising vendor maintenance activities for equipment and systems. Continuously propose improvements to the operations and maintenance program. Work on a shift schedule, which may include nights and holidays. Utilize computerized tools within a control room to operate equipment, monitor system alerts, centralize communications, diagnose faults, and prioritize resource allocation. Minimum Qualifications: 5+ years of experience in electrical, HVAC, mechanical, controls, or other technical maintenance fields. An Associate's degree in engineering with 3+ years of experience or a Bachelor's degree in a related field with 2+ years of experience in electrical, HVAC, or mechanical systems can substitute for the 5+ years experience requirement. Able to walk on flat and uneven terrain and work at varying heights. Capable of using hands for manual tasks, lifting 45 pounds or more, and standing or sitting for extended periods. A broad understanding of industries such as electrical generation, cooling technologies, building control, and fire protection systems. Preferred Qualifications: 3+ years of experience in data centers or critical environments such as pharma or power production. Trade Certification or state license in Electrical or Mechanical (HVAC). Professional memberships (like 7x24 Exchange, IFMA, Data Center Pulse, etc.). Familiarity with CMMS systems and critical facility operations. Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and life safety monitoring systems typical in critical environments. Experience in interpreting blueprints or CAD drawings.
