Role Engineering Technician Location Melbourne, FL 32919 Duration 12+ months Shift 1st shift, 9/80 schedule Pay Range $28 - $35/hr on W2 (all inclusive) Job Description: Seeking an Engineering Technician to support hands-on maintenance and sustainment of complex systems. The Engineering Technician will provide technical support and timely resolution of defects. Provides case status updates to management and customers. Maintains and updates records in tracking databases and alerts management to emerging trends in incidents, problems, or issues. Needs some sys admin skills - Need to be able to load configurations to the network gear and servers Overall Summary Provide hands-on maintenance and troubleshooting of hardware issues on computers, monitors, servers, and communication equipment (i.e., Cisco, Dell, Oracle, HP, Xerox, NetApp) Troubleshoot failures using multiple OS platforms to include Windows, Linux, and Unix Maintain an active record of troubleshooting and repairs using a ticket system Diagnose, refurbish, and test hardware received from the field and lab Gather, analyse, and report failure data trends and inventory levels Inform and interact with the engineering team to recommend solutions to problems Package, handle, and arrange transportation for incoming and outgoing shipments Track and follow-up on outstanding equipment returns Transport/hand-carry equipment between lab, warehouse, and repair facility Perform software builds on multiple baselines by following detailed procedures Manage and safeguard assets to include government-furnished property Process new hardware by tagging and capturing asset information into a database Perform inventories and audits of hardware and reconcile asset databases Provide guidance to on-site technicians during quarterly preventative maintenance Develop test and checkout procedures for depot repairs Perform responsibilities in accordance with established procedures Work requires independent action to resolve issues Education & Experience Requires highly developed job knowledge/skills. Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/associate's degree with a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. • Ability to read and understand schematics and troubleshooting circuits • Must have computer/technical background • Microsoft Windows knowledge
