Job Details Position: Travel Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT / CRT) - Travel RT job Location: Des Moines, IA 50309 (Des Moines respiratory therapist jobs, Iowa RT jobs) Setting: Hospital - Respiratory Care Unit (all ages, including PICU/NICU) Contract Length: 13 weeks Start Date: March 23, 2026 End Date: June 22, 2026 Shift: 12-hour nights (6:30 PM - 6:30 AM) Hours per Week: 36 Schedule: Every 3rd weekend and holiday rotation if scheduled On-Call: None EMR: Epic (Epic EMR experience required) Openings: 1 Floating: May float across hospital campuses; cross-training on general pediatric floor as needed Estimated Weekly Salary: $1,830-$1,970/week (competitive pay for travel RT positions). CRTs are accepted at a pay rate of $86/hr. Job Requirements / Qualifications Experience: Minimum 3 years (36 months) of hospital/medical center respiratory care experience required; recent travel RT experience a plus Recent Experience: At least 2 years of current RRT/CRT respiratory therapy practice PICU/NICU: Pediatric or neonatal intensive care experience required - PICU/NICU respiratory therapist experience preferred Licensure: Active Iowa Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license required (must be in hand) Credential: NBRC credential required (RRT or CRT accepted) Certifications: BLS (AHA or ARC) and either NRP or PALS required EMR: Epic EMR experience required (hospital respiratory therapist documentation experience) Equipment / Ventilator Experience: Experience with HFOV, Jet ventilation, Servo-U preferred; strong ventilator management and troubleshooting skills required Submission Documents: Respiratory therapy skills checklist and valid driver's license required Preferred: Professional reference from a leader (charge/supervisor/manager/director) within the last 24 months Responsibilities Provide high-quality respiratory therapy care to neonatal, pediatric, and adult patients in an acute care hospital setting (hospital respiratory therapist duties) Assess patients, administer prescribed respiratory treatments, and evaluate response to therapy using evidence-based practices Manage, monitor, and troubleshoot ventilated patients, including advanced ventilation modalities and high-acuity cases (ventilator management) Set up, operate, and maintain respiratory equipment to ensure safe, effective patient care Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary teams to support optimal cardiopulmonary outcomes Float across campuses as needed and provide pediatric support after cross-training Document assessments, interventions, ventilator changes, and patient responses accurately in Epic EMR Follow department protocols, safety standards, and participate in quality improvement initiatives Ready to advance your career?
