Java Lead - Cloud Native & MicroservicesLocation: North Quincy, MA (Onsite) Type: Contract Role Overview We are seeking a highly skilled Java Lead with expertise in cloud-native application development, microservices architecture, and REST APIs. The role involves providing technical leadership, guiding a team of developers, and delivering scalable, secure, and high-quality solutions. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on development experience with Java, Spring Boot, AWS, React.js, and CI/CD pipelines, along with exposure to event-driven architecture and modern API security practices. Key Responsibilities Lead the design, development, and implementation of Microservices and REST APIs. Provide technical leadership and mentorship to development teams. Collaborate with business stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable solutions. Ensure best practices in Microservices development, deployment, and integration. Conduct code reviews, enforce coding standards, and ensure high code quality. Troubleshoot and resolve technical challenges related to Microservices and APIs. Drive adoption of modern architectures: event-driven, API Gateway, service discovery. Stay up to date with emerging technologies, frameworks, and industry trends. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless system integrations. Required Skills & Experience Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field. 5-10 years of experience as a Tech Lead / Senior Java Developer. Strong expertise in Java, Spring Boot, and REST API development. Deep understanding of Microservices design patterns (Circuit Breaker, API Gateway, Service Discovery). Hands-on experience with AWS Cloud services. Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes). Proficiency with CI/CD tools: Jenkins, GitHub Actions (or equivalent). Strong knowledge of event-driven architectures (Kafka, SQS, Pub/Sub). Hands-on development with React.js and MUI (v4/v5), including theming, sx props, and styled components. Solid understanding of JavaScript (ES6+) / TypeScript. Good understanding of OAuth2, JWT, API security, and Zero-Trust architectures. Experience with monitoring & logging frameworks (ELK, Splunk). Nice to Have Prior experience in investment banking or financial services. Exposure to Agile delivery models.
