job summary: A Measurements Technician is needed for a manufacturing company considered one of the world's leading innovators in materials science in the Corning, NY area. This role focuses on high-precision measurements, safety documentation (LOTO/SOP), and process improvement, requiring an ambitious low-error mindset and strong Excel skills. location: Corning, New York job type: Contract salary: $21.49 - 30.08 per hour work hours: 8am to 5pm education: Associates responsibilities: Perform daily measurement and validation of metrology equipment. Support ion exchange tasks including loading/unloading baths and tank setup. Conduct glass measurements using specialized metrology instrumentation. Track project expenses and maintain detailed documentation of time worked. Identify and document system improvements to support growing technology strategies. Maintain 5S compliance and organization within all applicable laboratory areas. Manage Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) documents and procedures using Brady 360. Create and update Job Aids, SOPs, PPEHAs, and Job Safety Analyses (JSA). Participate in Process Hazard Reviews for Safety, Health, and Environmental approval. Act as a liaison between Metrology and Ion Exchange teams for knowledge transfer. Troubleshoot material, process, and equipment issues to identify root causes. Implement corrective actions and drive continuous process improvements. Write and execute Design of Experiments (DOEs) using scientific methods. Skills: strong MS Office skills, with ability to develop effective communications slide decks and spreadsheets. strong analytical skills, including advanced MS Excel capabilities. strong communications and interpersonal skills. Ability to work and collaborate effectively in a diverse environment. Good teamwork skills. Data analyst skills. Ability to multi-task. Education and Experience: 2-year technical associates degree required. 4-year technical Bachelors degree preferred. Degree should be STEM related (math/science, engineering, chemistry).
