If anyone claiming to represent X-energy directs you in a manner otherwise, please contact us at Job Description This technical editing and document control role manages the entire lifecycle of X-energy licensing documents, including technical editing, processing, release, distribution, and repository maintenance in accordance with applicable document control procedures and regulatory standards. This role combines expertise in technical writing and editing, document control, records management, drafting of official correspondence, and procedure writing to support the X-energy's licensing documentation needs, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and accessibility. Day-to-day activities include, but are not limited to, the following: • Formatting technical reports using advanced Microsoft Word features (e.g., styles, master documents, automated tables) • Editing technical content written by nuclear engineers to ensure clarity, consistency, and U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) compliance • Applying X-energy style guides and NRC formatting requirements to white papers, topical reports, and official correspondence • Managing document version control and approval workflows for licensing deliverables • Submitting and tracking documents to the NRC using an electronic submission portal • Maintaining and updating licensing-specific style guides and templates • Prioritizing multiple concurrent assignments to meet critical deadlines Job Profile Tasks/Responsibilities Organize and maintain electronic licensing documentation, ensuring they are easily retrievable, accurately identified, labeled, and categorized. Develop and implement procedures to submit regulatory documents and correspondence that meet the NRC guidance and requirements of the Electronic Information Exchange (EIE) portal. Format documents to include generating tables of contents, lists of figures, charts, tables, headers and footers, text, headings and references; repairing broken references; applying redactions; adjusting pagination, and other lists from styles applied to document content. Ensure document properties meet formatting requirements in Word, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat formats (to include Adobe FrameMaker.) Ensure that formatting is consistent throughout documents in accordance with internal templates and licensing specific style guides (use of abbreviations, in-text citations, hyperlinks, terminology, bibliographies, etc.). Maintain licensing specific style and writer's guides and other governing documents that control the content of regulatory submittals in accordance with current NRC guidance. Setup and coordinate internal meetings and maintain group calendars to support Licensing and Regulatory Affairs activities. Coordinate and engage with the NRC project managers and NRC document control staff to track the status of licensing deliverables and respond to NRC requests. Prepare and coordinate the review and approval of official correspondence to external stakeholders (e.g., NRC, DOE). Draft and provide technical editing to official correspondence and licensing and regulatory affairs documents. Coordinate with various functional groups outside of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs, as appropriate. Coordinate licensing meetings and engagements with internal and external stakeholders, as appropriate. Maintain professional demeanor and behavior at all times in all forms of communication. Perform other duties as assigned by manager. Job Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Typically, five years of professional experience in technical document control, technical editing, or regulatory document preparation, including: Demonstrated expertise in document formatting and style guide management Direct experience editing technical documents written by engineers or scientists Proficiency managing document version control and traceability systems Two years of experience working with federal regulatory submissions (NRC strongly preferred; FDA, EPA, or DOE also acceptable) Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Word (styles, master documents, cross-references, tables of contents/figures) Working knowledge of Adobe Acrobat Professional and PDF manipulation Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience with NRC licensing document submissions and the Electronic Information Exchange (EIE) portal Proficiency with Adobe FrameMaker for structured technical documentation Background in nuclear industry or other highly regulated technical industries (e.g., aerospace, defense, pharmaceuticals) Experience developing or maintaining regulatory writing style guides aligned with federal agency requirements Demonstrated ability to format complex technical documents including mathematical equations, figures, tables, and cross-references Familiarity with nuclear licensing processes or equivalent regulatory frameworks Technical editing certification (e.g., ACES, BELS) or equivalent training Project coordination experience supporting multi-disciplinary engineering teams Bachelor's degree in English, Technical Communication, or related field Location: 530 Gaither Road, Rockville, MD Work Arrangement: 4 Days Onsite per Week Hours: 8:00am-5:00pm, Mon-Fri Compensation As required by Maryland and other applicable state law, X Energy, LLC (X-energy) lists the expected compensation range for a publicly advertised job opportunity based upon the job requirements (e.g. education/training, experience, skill sets, etc.).
