Stepdown Nurse (RN) in Greenwood, IN

Key Qualifications and Experience: Minimum of 2 years nursing experience, preferably in Stepdown or similar high-acuity settings Proficiency in cardiac monitoring and management including chest tubes, fresh tracheostomies, feeding tubes, and epidural care Skilled in handling post-operative patients across ENT, thoracic, general surgery, and urology specialties Experience with non-titratable cardiac drips, IV insulin protocols, external BiPAP/CPAP, total laryngectomy care, and Doppler flap checks Current ACLS and BCLS certification Ability and willingness to float across Med-Surg, PCU, and ICU levels of care Comfortable with precepting nursing students and serving as unit charge nurse when required Responsibilities: Provide comprehensive nursing care in a surgical Progressive Care Unit with nearly ICU-level acuity Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to manage complex post-operative and medical overflow patients Adhere to staffing ratios generally between 1:3 and 1:4, ensuring safe and effective patient care Respond to operational needs which may include weekend rotation every other week and floating to other units as needed Participate in continuous education and training offered to support charge nurse roles and preceptorship Work Schedule: Night shifts, 3 twelve-hour shifts per week (19:00 to 07:30) About the Location: Greenwood, Indiana, offers a balanced lifestyle with suburban comfort close to vibrant city amenities.
