OR Nurse (RN) | Concord, North Carolina

An experienced Registered Nurse with a strong background in operating room procedures is needed for a contract position in Concord, NC. This role focuses on providing high-quality perioperative nursing care across a variety of surgical specialties in a Level 3 Trauma and Stroke Center of Excellence. Responsibilities include circulating and potentially scrubbing in complex surgical cases such as trauma, orthopedic trauma, total joint replacements, spine, cardiac, vascular, gynecology including oncology, robotics, bariatrics, urology, ENT, ophthalmology, pain management, and plastics. The role requires flexibility and adaptability to accommodate case requests during night shifts, including charge nurse responsibilities and potential scrub duties. Key qualifications and desired experience: Active NC RN license and BLS certification required; CNOR certification is preferred but not mandatory Minimum of 5 years of OR nursing experience with proficiency in trauma, orthopedic trauma, total joints, spine, cardiac, MI vascular, gynecology-oncology, robotics, and general surgery Previous charge nurse experience for night shifts strongly preferred Ability to perform or assist in laparoscopic and open abdominal procedures, cystoscopy, vascular cases, and robotics is a plus Self-motivated, flexible, and a proactive team player with strong clinical judgment Schedule and work environment: Varied shift times including 7a-7p, 9a-9p, or 11a-11p; night and weekend rotations required Weekend rotation every fourth weekend, with call shifts averaging six per 6-week schedule and a 45-minute response time Travelers expected to work approximately 75% of holidays Orientation includes two days of departmental training Support team includes clinical supervisors, charge nurses, educators, OR assistants, and technical staff Additional information: This contract role is based in a large medical center with 19 OR suites and specialized centers for bariatrics, spine surgery, and chest pain.
