Job Description Chief Estimator / Preconstruction Manager (Commercial Drywall Construction)Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Senior Estimator / Preconstruction Manager to lead estimating operations for a high-volume commercial construction firm. This individual will be responsible for overseeing the full preconstruction process, mentoring junior estimators, and driving profitable project acquisition through accurate and strategic bidding. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring strong technical estimating skills, software proficiency, and the ability to manage people and processes. Key Responsibilities Lead all estimating and preconstruction efforts for commercial projects ranging from small scopes to $10M+ Oversee, review, and validate estimates prepared by junior estimators Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and pricing using OST / QuickBid software Analyze drawings, specifications, and bid documents to identify risks and opportunities Develop bid strategies focused on margin, accuracy, and long-term client relationships Collaborate with operations and leadership to ensure smooth handoff from preconstruction to execution Maintain bid schedules and ensure timely, complete submissions Support business development through relationship-driven estimating (not purely low-bid) Required Qualifications Minimum 5+ years of commercial estimating experience (more preferred) Mandatory experience with OST / QuickBid Proven experience estimating commercial construction projects up to $10M Prior experience leading or mentoring estimators is strongly preferred Strong understanding of construction documents, scopes, and cost drivers Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment Must be willing to work 100% in-office Preferred Traits Seasoned, dependable, and accountable professional Strong leadership and communication skills Hungry, driven, and motivated by performance-based compensation Relationship-focused mindset with clients, vendors, and internal teams Comfortable joining a growing organization and helping stabilize/scale operations Compensation & Benefits (Range-Based) Competitive base salary commensurate with experience Performance-based bonus tied to contract value and margin Medical benefits 401(k) with employer match Vehicle allowance Cell phone allowance Company credit card Interested?
